It's the North against the South all over again. The Donut wars are raging. Dunkin Donuts has crossed into the South to take on Krispy Kreme in it's own territory. Personally I think Krispy Kreme makes the better donut. Who's donuts do you enjoy most?

Fucking hell, I was hoping i'd heard Krispy Kreme for the last fucking time.

(the second store in Australia opened near my house, and for a while it seemed like it was the country's main tourist attraction. Oh, and I didn't think much of their doughnuts.)

I worked at a coffee shop for a while when I was at uni. Combining poor uni students with free access to doughnuts is bad. I practically lived on the bloody things while I was working there. I can't eat them anymore. I just go to Dunkies for the coffee.

I dont like dougnuts much- I prefer Dunkin Donuts coffee.

When I lived in Brick,NJ, Krispy Kreme opened a store on Rte 70-it was a big deal-lines out the door, handing out free donuts- they made them there and you could watch the process.
It was two minutes from my house-we'd get them when friends tha tliked them were in town.

One day, they were closed-bankrupt. It still doesnt make sense, I dont know what happened.

I think those doughnuts will kill you. I've seen people eat 6 or 7 of them like they werent poison. Its like pure sugar/carbohydrate poison.

I get a headache just watching someone gobble them down.

They're not terrible in moderation. You've got to live a little. One donut is ok, six Krispy Kremes isn't. It's not worth the angioplasty.

I don't really like donuts that much. I can't remember ever having a donut from Dunkin Donuts though, so I guess I have to go with Krispy Kreme?

I'm not a big desert-type guy anyway. I'd much rather have more meat. I dont have a sweet tooth and never crave carbohydrates.
So-I'll order a larger steak than most, knowing I never need room for desert. I usually leave fries or mashed potatoes after a taste. Other vegetables I'll enjoy & finish-but I eat very little carbohydrates.

Pff, y'all folks just ha'an't developed immu'inities to em like we done. Ya'lls can't tol'rate it.

Note for all, don't ever bring Krispy Kreme round any number of black people. Or bring at least 5 dozen.

I prefer Krispy Kreme's doughnuts over Dunkin's. However, I've already sold my soul to the Canadian coffee and doughnut god known as "Tim Horton".

I'm leaning towards the DD donut, but KK are decent.
I really haven’t eaten donuts for a while, they just don’t appeal to me anymore (you know you're getting old when…).

I will go with the DD coffee for the win though.

Hah, the Best Donuts are of course Round Rock Donuts!

but really, I can't imagine Dunkin Donuts even being in the same league as Krispy Kreme, Dunkin (imho) is like the McDonalds of Donuts, sure they're good and all, but they aren't really that good, Whereas Krispy Kreme is like the Chik-Fil-A of Donuts. (I.E. The best Donut chain in existence ever, Aliens fromt h planet Donut could come and sell their aline donuts made of pure slices of heaven and Krispy Kreme would still make better donuts.)

Krispy Kreme lasted a week in Canada.

I hated it, and I know no one who actually liked it.

Everyone I know prefers Tim Hortens or Coffee Time (for doughnuts)

The OP's got it wrong -- KK's been up north for a while. We had the same frenzy when they opened a KK in Issaquah (last bastion of Seattle urbanity before the Cascades, east on I-90) a few years ago. That was the first time I'd ever tried one, and they're really too doughy and texturally insubstatial. Once you get past the cloying glaze, it's a lot of air and Crisco. Still, I am a doughnut fiend who has had to swear off them, and KKs had their place. For variety, though, DD is better.

As far as Tim Horton's, I don't know what happened, but they must have been bought out or something because my last experience with those unpalatable balls of glop was indeed my last experience. I'd been to Canada many times when I was younger and regualrly giving in to doughnut cravings. The last TH I went to in Surrey, BC featured a nearly inedible product, which is saying a lot, given my predilection.

I miss WINCHELL'S. Best old-fashioned and cake doughnuts around. Glazed rounds are for those without imagination.

I find that for any baked confection, a product made by an independent cafe/bakers will 95 times out of 100 be better than one made by a bakers that is part of a chain.

Y'all, when it comes to preparing the best deep-fried, sugar-laden, high-calorie food, no one does it better than a Southerner. Hell, when it comes to any kind of food, no one is better than a Southerner.

Krispy Kreme by a mile.

There used to be a place in this town called Detroit Donuts, but it closed not long before I moved here. I always imagined that the doughnuts were full of broken glass and rusted nails.

Absolutely. When I lived in Germany I used to go downtown to a local bakery for breakfast every morning. Those were some damned good pastries.

Dunkin for the win. There was a huge big thing when Krispy Kreme came to town; I thought it was soo gross.

When I eat a KK donut, I can feel my veins congealing. It’s so sugary its sickening to me. Its okay, I can just get a non-glazed donut, right? Wrong! They have like, 5 different choices which are all glazed.

The first Krispy Kreme in the Northeast opened down the street from my house. They had to redesign the street to allow the expected traffic, as well as have police out front directing traffic for the first month. Traffic backed up for about two miles.

Today, it is closed. It took less than three years for the place to go from the biggest hit to nothing.

Dunkin Donuts wins for me. KK has no substance. I eat one, and don't feel satisfied. I just feel hungry. DD's coffee is better, and they have more choices of donuts. Personal favorite: the bowtie.

Krispy Kreme doughnuts make my teeth hurt. Too much sugar.

What I'd dearly love to find is a doughnut shop that makes jelly-filled doughnuts with no added glaze or icing sugar.

At home, my Mother had practicly banned Krispy Kreme from our house. I was only allowed to eat Dunkin Donuts. Unfortunatley, the nearest one is about 20 minutes away. So I could only eat donuts when I was visiting family in Massachusets.
