I was just watching CNN news, and the weatherlady came on. She was talking about that hurricane brewing on the west coast of Mexico, and she was noting that it might hit a certain peninsula, the Baja peninsula. But when she pointed at it, she said it was the YUCATAN peninsula. Shows how good our wheather people are...

I guess they bank on the fact that very few people will be able to tell that the naming was erroneous, and that of those, very few will care.

Man, that's just like the time my friend confused the Norwegian Arctic island of Svalbard with the Russian Arctic island of Novaya Zemlya. Suffice to say, we're not friends anymore.
