Well, after a brief appearance in Gabbly last night I thought I might come on here and see whose around, it's been a while....so Hi!
Uni has been fantastic for me, I've been so incredibly lucky. Met some really great people, made some really great new friends, love my course, have ideas and inspiration flooding out of my ears and have more energy than I think I've ever had. So all in all my move and reintroduction to education has been more than I could hope for! Pretty much like you all said it would!
Anything interesting been going on here? Hope you are all well!

nothing much going on here - its been a bit quiet recently (bar a few facist trolls of course)
my uni experience was utterly shit and i ended up dropping out and on medication for clinical depression. i hate university - i hate the idea of it, i hated the experience of it, i hated the style of everything... the people... the academia (pointless waste of fucking time to get some piece of paper when the real world teaches you far, far more than you could ever learn there), and just about everything. and i hate cardiff in particular.
but glad to hear its going well for you :p

I'm sorry you had a crap experience, different people like different things. I agree that I could quite easily get into Photography without getting a qualification, experience is far more rewarding. But I love the environment and its been an awesome reason to move away from home. :)

ah, see... the environment i didn't like at all. first of all cardiff was a dump, my first year halls were shit, my second year house was horrible, i ended up hating the people i was sharing with (both years), hating the courses i was on (economics was barely the same subject it had been at a-level, and politics was just abstract academic dickwaving), and it just generally sucked.
but hold on a minute... there's a photography course at pompey??? i'd sign up to that! i love photography! :)

I'm currently doing foundation art, thats a year long course, then next year I plan on doing my photography degree, most probably here in Portsmouth, although I'm going to an open day in Falmouth next week just to check it out. I've seen some of your pictures, you'd be good at it!

Speaking of RocSoc, one thing I've noticed about being at Uni is the way that everything has to be abbreviated, as if we don't have time to say the whole word, I don't know about you guys but I've spent most of my time in my kitchen seeing how much bacon I can fit in my mouth.
I've managed three and a bit rashers.

I noticed that too. I'm not studying chemical engineering, it seems I'm just a chem, as opposed to a mech or an elec.

I dont know if I see it differently, but I certainly have found my independance. I have an energy now that I never thought id have. I was ill at the beginning of the year...well I was always ill, always very tired and never energetic and now I'm constantly hyperactive. It's great!

University's cool. I'm currently on my uni's chess team and writing for the university newspaper...despite not actually being a student.
It's good to be involved. I'm a little annoyed because I wanted to join a few societies this year, but because I'm on foundation and have no grant most of my time is taken up by work, and soon I shall need a job :( next year though, I will b e on many commities! I can't wait. Writing for the uni paper sounds cool, I wouldnt mind doing something like that. I feel like my grammer and everything along with it has gone out of the window! Bloody art student :D

Aw, at the moment its the opposite for me, but then I'm stupidly loving my course and doing work in the evenings. I need someone to force me to go out...and maybe pay for it! hehe
