Grand talk. Thats all that it will amount too.
NASA is about pork-barrel contractors and the US Air Force doesn't even have a single reliable orbital deployment system.

I'm not scared, I'm outraged. The American president has no right to say who can and cannot enter space. Space belongs to all humanity, not some temporal leader of some insignificant speck of a nation on a tiny blue globe.
Wait, what happened to that Outer Space Treaty? One man, even though he is the president of a strong country, can't just abolish that with one stupid resolution.
(Outer Space Treaty link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outer_Space_Treaty))
To be more specific, I'm talking about Article IV of the Outer Space Treaty.
Article VI of the Outer Space Treaty deals indeed with international responsibility, stating that "[t]he activities of non-governmental entities in outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, shall require authorization and continuing supervision by the appropriate State Party to the Treaty" and that States Parties shall bear international responsibility for national space activities whether carried out by governmental or non-governmental entities.

just like with the internet, america is thinking that if no-one owns something, they have full rights to it. Right now I wish the were wiped of the map. As in, an invasion, not as in being completely destroyed.

And the difference between this and the nuclear nonproliferation treaty is...? Both are meant to keep strategic resources in the hands of a tiny handful of big boys, irregardless of, errr, anything else (And one has already failed, big time).
*Yawns* Big deal.
This said, it's sorta amusing, given how much NASA sucks. Outcompeted by ESA and the Russians. 'tis just sad.
NASA sucks because not too much attention is going into missions as they were back during the Cold War.
I'm telling you, everything begins to suck when a nation is at war because most of the funds go towards the war.

This isn't so much about Bush. Its America as a whole. I doubt anyone would ever come to power in the USA who would suggest that space/the internet/human souls are not the play things of the American state.

The United States rejects any claims to sovereignty by any nation over outer space or
celestial bodies, or any portion thereof, and rejects any limitations on the fundamental
right of the United States to operate in and acquire data from space;
The US isn't trying to claim space as it's own! /naive

you're right.
but who'd ever say something against that? I guess bush would even bomb the UN-building in NYC cause he can't bomb the UN-nations at the same time if they'd say something (if he even gives a fuck what i doubt)

it's not about world pece. it is about teaching the american governement that space, the internet, and all that stuff that no nation claims sovereignty to are NOT the american government's playthings.

You'll have to look at the Chinese for that. By the time China gets it's moon mission in high gear, most of the American public would have forgotten about it and found something more interesting to focus in. Like which politician's gay or something similarly banal. Especially if the Chinese play it smart and keep the final launch schedule and tests secret.
