House dropped on museum
A house has been 'dropped upside down' on the roof of the Viennese Museum of Modern Art.
The art project, entitled House-Attack by top local sculptor Erwin Wurm, is supposed to look as if the house has fallen out of the sky and landed on the famous museum in the centre of the Austrian capital.
It actually took two cranes to put the huge sculpture into place, which is complete with a red roof, window boxes and a TV antenna.
The artist said his work was a statement against over-development.
Wurm said: "There are hundreds of thousands of houses and they are spreading like a plague, like a cancer across our land."
That is an intresting concept, but really, is housing development really that bad? Afterall, people need a place to live, where does this artist expect us to live?

I like the little house one better... and I think it's pretty cool. I'm not really a modern art sort of person, and I don't mind an increase in housing... however, I also like fields and woods, and it seems like the houses are just falling from the sky like rain, there are so many going down around here. So I guess this one just brings that to mind, and seems funny and appropriate.

It's been done in Wisconsin too. Only with a replica of the Whitehouse, and no museum underneath.

No where near the artist. It's similar to the NIMBY (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NIMBY) effect.
Sure, there's talk of overcrowding and environmental impact, so on and so forth. But ultimately it comes down to "it'll lower my property values" or "i'll obstruct my view of <whatever>."
Take some time to examine the issue and you'll find that its the people who already have the big house on the hill with a view who scream the loudest about the evils of "development."
