...are the rest of the Republicans trying to squeeze into the space he left?
Are they starting to acknowledge the death of American Conservatism?
As we go through the final weeks before the mid-term election day more and more TV ads are airing for political candidates. But I noticed something a bit odd. I see a lot of ads that say, for instance, "Bob Robertson, Democrat for Senate," "Allen Alinson, Democrat for comptroller," and so on.
Then I saw an ad that said, "Jim Jameson,..........for Senate."
I thought my daughter had hit the mute button on the remote, as she sometimes does, but the remote was nowhere near her. I've since heard several more ads in which promote "a candidate.........for office" running against "a candidate, Democrat for office."
I did a little looking around, and it seems that Republicans (http://www.schlesinger2006.com/)are becoming ashamed of themselves (http://www.tarrant06.com/). Sure some of them wave the loxodontal flag, but lots of people running as Republicans (http://www.bobcorkerforsenate.com/) are reluctant to say so. Look at their homepages. Many of them don't even have the word Republican (http://www.steeleformaryland.com/)on there.
Are they afraid to admit their Republican affiliation? Do they realize that it has become a liability. Are they acknowledging, if only to themselves, that most people don't believe in the conservative agenda as it is represented by todays Republicans? However much they smile for their mugshots, it seems that Republicans are far from certain about the direction their party is going.
