Threatening Israel is typical of this guy but directly threatening Europe is news to me. Especially since Europe is hardly "pro-Israel". Anyways...if any of you had doubts about the seriousness of this man getting his hands on Nukes...

Europe may get hurt... (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061020/ts_nm/iran_europe_israel_dc)

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Friday Europe was stirring up hatred in the Middle East by supporting Israel and warned it “may get hurt” if anger in the region boiled over.

“You should believe that this regime (Israel) cannot last and has no more benefit to you. What benefit have you got in supporting this regime, except the hatred of the nations?” he said in a speech broadcast on state radio.

“We have advised the Europeans that the Americans are far away, but you are the neighbors of the nations in this region. We inform you that the nations are like an ocean that is welling up, and if a storm begins, the dimensions will not stay limited to Palestine, and you may get hurt.”

So? What's new here? Besides, Ahmadinejad isn't actually "in charge" of much of anything in Iran.

You should. (http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/iran/nuke/index.html)

Iran is nothing to ignore. (http://www.state.gov/t/us/rm/35281.htm)

A Nuclear Iran could prove disastrous for the region as well as the world. (http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/world/iran/nuke.htm)

If Iran did acquire atomic bombs, it would put pressure on other countries in the region do the same. Many Arab countries believe it is unfair that Israel has nuclear weapons. If Arab countries, notably Saudi Arabia but also Egypt and possibly Syria, found themselves caught between a nuclear-armed Israel and a nuclear-armed Iran, it would greatly increase pressures to pursue their own nuclear options. This could result in a regional arms race in the Middle East which is likely to be quite destabilizing, given the number and intensity of conflicts and instabilities in the region.

Oh no. Woe is me. The world might end due to nuclear war. Then again, I may get hit by a bus tomorrow crossing the street to work.

I must be worried about those dastardly bus drivers too.

Well normally he would have that effect, but after a few years of another self righteous prick with pretensions of grandeur and a hotline to god, you get a bit immune....

everything is done through Ahmadinejad, that is how things work over there. Anyways, what exactly is the point you are trying to make? That a nuclear Iran is not a threat?

Actually, the two have been at each other's throats more than once. It was about appointing the oil minister, I believe - and if I recall correctly, Ahmadinejad won that little contest.

He's in charge of more than the Ayatollahs, but he doesn't command much popular support these days (but that's for domestic reasons).

Actually, knowing Khameini's current illness, he probably would have a tough time giving any message whatsoever.
