So, if the US military planning is being directed personally by God AND the US is getting it's ass kicked, there are only two possible reasons for this.

Either God WANTS the US to get it's ass kicked, or God is incompetent at directing efforts to kill people.

To say that God wants president Bush to run the country, and do it the way he is doing it, does not mean that it is right, or a good idea.

Take a look at some of the other things God made rulers do. When Moses asked the Pharaoh to let the Hebrews go, he did. God didn't think they'd appreciate that enough because it was too easy, so he changed the Pharaoh's mind, and then punished him for doing as God forced him to.

He let gave them Saul to be a king, but then had the Assyrians raze Jerusalem to punish them for wanting a king.
