Good to be back

After two years of absence (or, detox, whichever term you'd prefer), I happened upon this here NationStates site again (by accident? Who knows...) only to discover that it is exactly the same as when I left it (perhaps less ranting)! The political discussions, the flying argu(e)ments, the ignorance of newbs/rightwings/KFC apologists, the stoneform idealism of leftwings/Europeans/people that visit nature too much, HOW I've MISSED it!
Even a few peeps from back then still exist: Jello Biafra, Glitziness, Nen Burmesia and the rest of the UDCP of which I've witnessed the birth, Frisbeeteria still mods a board, I'm also pretty sure I remember Erastide from back then, jeez... excellent :)
As I didn't want to post merely about "hello again", I've been wondering about something while browsing (or: skimming) the board here: back when I left, there was a blatant dislike, almost hatred, between the more rightwing US self-declared patriots and European posters. There was also a nice mix of nations and peoples, overall, but as I read some of the posts it seems that there's more and more US people here, in favor of other nations' citizens. And it seems that political points mostly discuss US actions/events - altho that might have been the case a few years ago, as well. And another thing that appeared to me: the overall high textual quality of the posts, even the rantings appear to have been civilised - back in the day, you couldn't post a single thread without being haphazardly flamed to death for something you didn't even state. And out of personal interest: how's the evolutionalist/creatonist debate going? :p This brings me to a very central question: has any of you EVER reflected on this forum? On it's users, on what happens there? Ever taken a view from a distance to get "the bigger picture"? And if so: what did you find out?
PS to the UDCP people from back then: first of, hi!, and second, back then I was known as Druidvale (perhaps some of you remember me), but I've chosen to just start anew with a new nation (less hassle).
Have a STFUsandwhich, noob.

NSG... I find it's the only thing I can substitute for heroin.
Seriously, though, I gave up on religion threads after the first one I tried (despite the fact that I really love theological discussions and such, the problem was that 9 out of 10 people trying to debate religion made assertions like, "Science has disproven religion"). There's always a thread around here about how awful those Muslims are (which is usually mediated by a goodly number of people pointing out the hundreds of thousands of logical fallacies inherent in every one of the OP's statements).
But NSG is my life. Not really. Far from it. But it can be very interesting at times, and it's a great place to hear about weird stuff (it's how I found Baby Got Book).

I'd say "welcome back" but you say you were gone 2 years and I've only been around since February, and hadn't heard of NSG before that point. :( Those were dark and miserable days....
Anyway... hello! :D :fluffle:
Edit~ Bah, sorry, that was rude, I didn't introduce myself properly! I am Darknovae, the Official Pancake of NSG. :D
Hello and, uh... I came here in June, so I can't say welcome back either. :(
I can say... WELCOME N00B!!!!!! :D

You pre-date me as well. Creationalism/evolution has been relatively quiet recently. The big topic of the moment seems to be racism/Muslim terrorism.
Welcome back.
Oooh, an old-noob. Paradoxical.

Can't say I remember you, though I was around at the time. This doesn't necessarily reflect badly on you, it's just that my memory is atrocious.

Yes, perhaps it's best that you didn't resurrect Druidvale, people would confuse you with Druidville (including myself).

If nothing else the continued mess in both Iraq and Afghanistan seems to have taken the wind out of the sails of many of the right-wing US posters. It is somewhat hard to criticise the more cautious euros when the bodybags are still being shipped back home day by day with little sign of progress. Waist deep in the big muddy, and all that...
Currently there does seem to be more of a focus on domestic US events when you glance at the forum, but there is a marked decline in the gung-ho attitudes we all knew and 'loved' two years back.
