(Poll coming soon, to a Forum near you)
So what is your favorite series of "Law & Order"? There's the original "Law & Order" then we have "Law & Order Special Victims Unit (SVU)" and finally the "Law & Order Criminal Intent (CI)".
I have to admit I am addicted to "Law and Order" but my favorite would have to be "Law & Order SVU".
I Love L&O..........:D

Nothing beats the episode where the perp imitates Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio).
And just every time D'Onofrio messes with people. Its so much fun to watch.

Criminal Intent because Vincent D'Onofrio is hot.
then SVU, then the original.
I think that SVU and the original are tied, I like the lawyers in the original better but the cops better in SVU.

i hate law and order so much that we cant even have the show ON in the house lest i walk by and start ranting at what i see on the screen.
i hate it for its horrible view of american justice even though there are many shows that are less realistic (boston legal for example)
ihavent seen that many episodes since they ALL make me rant but what ive seen is full of straw men, people being assumed guilty and railroaded to conviction on the hunch of the police or prosecutors, police who threaten potential witnesses with arrest--even on trumped up charges-- if they dont cooperate with the police, people who are charged with false or trumped up charges when the original charge doesnt stick, posecutors who break the law in their effort to convict the person they assume is guilty.
i guess its their earnest and smarmy approach. they are fighting the good fight even as they trample the constitution and laws of the state under their jackboots.

You don't mean that bald guy, do you? The one who was in the first 1 or 2 seasons? He was alright, but he would get owned by McCoy.

I don't watch it for the legal stuff, just like I don't watch CSI for the legal stuff, you know 90% of the "searches" they do on CSI would get thrown out in court.....but it doesn't matter because they just make everyone confess anyway....
I can see where you get annoyed I mean my mom actually does believe that they do have the computer where they can look up anyone based on a half of a fingerprint smudge, that could get her in trouble someday.

Unlaw & Chaos! :)
SVU is always about a rape of some kind or another and it got really boring really fast. CI is...okay but it focuses almost entirely on the investigation process and ignores the conviction process. The original is the best of them even though it has way too many murder stories.
I've stopped watching them because I didn't have the time and haven't really gone back. At least it's better than CSI though. That show and its spinoffs are steamin' piles o' shit!

i enjoy csi (the original) very much. it doesnt bother me one bit that the crime lab people sometimes moonlight on the swat team, interview witness, run dna tests in a matter of minutes and get perfectly clear faces after running a blurry photo through the computer.
i dont like law and orders view of justice.

You forgot TbJ, which sucked anyways. CI isn't that good, since it strays for the idea that you find out what happens along with the cops. SVU is good because it features a raging dad, a woman who's probably not much older than most of the victims they deal with, a kick-ass black guy, and a dark-humored Jew.
What does the original have? A non-kick-ass black guy, and a pussy white guy. (Talking about the new guy. Orbach was definetly more kick-ass than this current one. R.I.P., buddy, R.I.P.)

The original and SVU are good, I hate CI. They always go around bending and stretching the law to convict people. If it isn't illegal, the characters are just fucking assholes. The other day they were trying to arrest some lady for putting cyanide in some medicine so they arrest her mother on nothing but conjecture in order to arrest her. Fucking bullshit.
The only one I saw besides that is one where they were trying to catch gold smugglers. They find the gold smugglers by barging into some one's house, grabbing their weights and hitting them together to find they are the gold painted over. No warrant, just some dick cop barging into a guy's house.

The original Law & Order (especially with Jerry Orbach & Chris Noth) was the best until they replaced ADA Carmichael with the Barbie doll  :headbang: ; quit watching at that point. What I saw of Criminal Intent was really good too. "SVU" was crap.
But I don't watch TV much anymore, so...

The original is pure brilliance. What more could you want out of life, I ask you, than a half hour of Jerry Orbach, and then another half hour of Sam Waterson? Briscoe and McCoy are my heros. If McCoy were not so damn old, I would wanna have like McCoy babies with him. And Orbach...well, i nearly cried when I heard he had died. :( plus, everyone else on the show is good to. Tho, whoever said it was right, Carmichael was better, tho I like both of the ADAs. Also, Jesse L Martin is a fox, and I wanna have his babies. Episodes with him and Orbach and Waterson are like proof that god still loves me.
Also, the L&O view of the justice system isn't as bad as you might think. The worst offense is usually McCoy's badgering of witnesses, but i mean, its a show, what do you expect but theatrics? As for illegal searches...i dunno what episodes you are watching. They are ALWAYS worrying about how to get a warrant. I also saw an episode where a search was thrown out, because they said it was illegal (something about violating the plain view rule...i dont remember exactly). And yeah, suspects are presumed guilty by the police and DA's office kind of a lot. But i mean, would they try someone who they didn't think was guilty? I love how L&O tackles all kinds of issues.
That said, SVU kicks ass too. Liv and Elliot are the shit. And wanna talk about bad view of the justice system.....I'm pretty sure Elliot committed entrapment in one episode. And the show never even got to the trial. So I dunno if his case woulda been dismissed, but quite probably so. Also, most heart-wrenching episode ever was "Baby Killers" of SVU. I may've cried when I saw that. *shifty eyes*
CI annoys me. But it is mildly entertaining.

The two of you who voted for CI can now go and die. You are the scum of the earth. :p
Seriously, SVU is great as far as acting and pace are concerned. Not as subtle, or as good acting as the original, but it is faster paced, and more interesting to watch(IMO).
CI can die and burn in hell for all I care. I hate the main male character(I don't even give a damn what his name is), it makes far to many silly assumption jumps, and it has terrible acting, and pretty poor filming as well.
SVU all the way.

Like I mentioned earlier, SVU is the absolute best, following closely behind is the original L&O and finally would be CI.
I am addicted to L&O. I find my self knowing the end of the episode is coming and knowing I must get to bed So I can get up for work the next morning. So I hold on to the remote getting ready to turn the TV off due to how quickly they start the next episode.
I even love the reruns. I'm glad they play it a lot. I normally, bounce from USA to TNT and decide which L&O I would prefer to watch. SVU typically wins unless there's an episode I haven't seen....:D

CI. I wasn't actually aware it's a Law & Order show, tbh, it's just called "Criminal Intent" here.
The old one is okay, and I've never seen SUV, not even sure if we have that here. Oh, wait, is it the one with Mariska Hargitay? Then I've seen it. It's okay, I guess. She's hot, though. :)

I guess, but Stephanie (that her first name?) March got married to Bobbie Flay and I suppose the restaurant business pays enoug that she didn't have to work.
I voted for the original series but I do like them all. I like Mike Logan's new partner quite a bit on CI.
CI isn't that good, since it strays for the idea that you find out what happens along with the cops.
But the cops learn things at vastly different rates.

The original used to be better, but Farina (as Fontana) wasn't capable of filling the hole that Orbach left (that isn't to say that he's bad), so SVU has ascended into its place.
I never liked CI because that omniscient detective/jack-ass is far too annoying to tolerate for an entire hour.
