Should political parties be all together ABOLISHED?

Should the political parties all be abolished? No more Republicans and Conservatives, No more Democrats and Liberals!!!

I say, "Hell yeah abolish them" They, both, are the reasons why people think that we as the United States are divided. They are the main cause for the divisions within our country. I say, "Be gone!"

It's time the American People as a whole took back our country. Both the Republicans and Democrats stole our country and I say we take it back.

I'm tired of all of their lies, lies, and more lies.

What can the People do to get our country back?

I'm just very frustrated with all of their lies and self interests. :headbang:

And replace them with what exactly? That creates more divisions that it ends

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

It is unconstitutional to disband political parties by act of the federal or state governments.

And anyway, it would throw so many people out of work! And people would find loopholes, trust me. Like the 527 money that buys so many lovely political ads.

I would agree with this insofar as any federal legal right or privelige goes or official mention of parties in ballots or elections or in the rules of the House or Senate. However as with any organisation or assembly of individuals the parties should have every right to meet and exist. States should be allowed to either follow this example or not as each State's citizens see fit.

George Washington did not think political parties would be a good idea and I am personally disenchanted with the two party system which controls my country's politics. However, abolishing political parties would not be right. People have the right to form their own parties. It is up to the voters to educate themselves and vote for specific candidates and not on party lines.

also, the same special interests who pull the strings of todays political parties will just do the same with individual candidates who belong to no party.

I think what the OP means is that politicians shouldn't allign themselves with a specific political party because it encourages division along party lines. Politicians should have personal platforms, not party platforms.

But the truth is compaigning is very expensive, and political parties make up some of the cost. It's also easier to compare candidates if they allign themselves with a political party. What's easier? saying that candidate X believes WXYZ, or candidate X follows <political party> ideas? Not to mention the fact that it's easier to run for office when you have a body of people behind you to support you.

So far, all you've spewed has been pure opinion.
Where are your supporting facts, eh? Some people don't know exactly WHAT the Democrats and/or Republicans have done to ruin your particular country, so a source or two would be appreciated.

Yes, NB, but I think you'll find that most state constitutions have clauses similar to the First Amendment in them. In the cases where a state constitution is actually silent on the issue, the federal Constitution decides. So, no, as pleasant as a world without political parties might be, it's probably not possible to abolish them by law.

Yes but hope springs eternal. :D

I think you misunderstood me. I wasnt clear enough. Actually I dont want to abolish them by law I only want to abolish any federal law or regulation which specifies that they must exist or acknowleges them as a needed part of government. I think they should exist if their members want them , but for example I dont think that a person's party should be on election ballots and I do not think that titles like Senate majority leader should exist.

People have already seemed to voice my opinions, but ill make them known anyway.

You cannot tell the people that they may not assemble for any reason. Efficacy is a great reason to politically band and organization is in our nature and our constitution. You cannot outright ban political parties. Secondly Reps and Dems are parties, Cons and Libs are ideologies- they have no actual structure to dismantle.

What I would support is a complete lack of legal provisions for any party. This means you dont get federal money just for running for one of the two parties, or anything like that.
