I was looking on you tube when I come across this.

It's a clip from Have I Got News For You about Pot Noodles and it got me thinking. Why are panel game shows so great? I mean a lot of stuff on TV is just crap but shows like Have I Got News For You, Nevermind The Buzzcocks and QI are consistenty great.

Which is your favourite show?

Mines QI at the moment.

If you haven't seen it then you're missing out.

Do they have any decent shows like this in America or where ever you're from?

Its a simple forumula but it works, its really just comedians and celebrities showing off. I'm really liking that mock the week at the moment

Mock The Week is good. Dara O'Brien is such a dude.

Did you catch the episode of Have I Got News For You after Angus got caught with that hooker?

It's funny how most of the sitcoms and stuff on tv are no where near as funny as a few people behind a desk answering questions.
Not bad

I like jeopardy (usually it is played by adults) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdTp09tl_34)
celebrity jeopardy :D (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ib19oP1mPQ) Win Ben Stein's money (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6tjqLY4MEg&mode=related&search=) and to my discredit street smarts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BZ8dE8mDY4&mode=related&search=)

They're not really panel comedy quiz shows. They're proper serious quizzes.

For a proper panel game show the questions are just an excuse to get a load of celebrities and comedians around a desk and crack jokes.

Most of them are shit. Mock the Week is especially bad. The best one is Annually Retentive (with Rob Brydon), because it's a piss-take of the whole thing. The people who write the shows aren't even subtle about clearly giving the answers to the panellists, something that QI is especially guilty of (though it's still head and shoulders above HIGNFY, NMTB, etc). Still watch them occasionally, but I prefer sketch shows for my comedy.

The greatest panel show in the history of mankind is I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. It's been around on Radio 4 since like the 60's and is consistently the funniest thing on radio.

Yeah, and Mock the Week is crap.

How can people hate Mock The Week? Dara O'Brien is the sixth funniest man alive.

(What do you mean, comedy's subjective?)

It's not him I find unfunny. It's the jokes that are written for him, and the 'comedians' who are on the show.

Yesterday, after That Mitchell and Webb Look (second funniest thing on tv at the moment, after Extras. Shame they've both just finished), they had a trailer for Mock the Week, with D O'B saying something along the lines of 'You've seen That Mitchell and Webb Look and Extras - hopefully you're not too laughed out, because it's Mock the Week next!'

And I thought - why? It's not as if I'm going to be laughing at your show, ya smug Irish git.

Mock the Week is a bit crap. They all think they are so funny but all of their jokes are just so obvious and cliché.
