Republicans in deep trouble...

I wasn't sure I wanted to start hoping for a check against Bush, but these numbers are convincing. They better catch Osama in the next few days or it will be a Dem landslide. I hate the Dems as much as I hate the Reps, but at least we'll have gridlock. The worst thing that could happen to this country before the next presidential election is for either party to be able to get anything done. It'll be a great breather for nothing to happen. Maybe then we'll get a competent leader out of the next election and be able to right the ship a little. Anyhoo, sorry Bushites but these numbers are convicing. You're losing Congress.

Gridlock YEAAAA!!! Let's put the global warming issues off some more. Screw the people making minimum wage. And by all means, let's continue endless bickering while our enemies re-fortify.

Gridlock YEAAAA!!! Let's put the global warming issues off some more.Fortunately the states are doing a much better job at that than the Feds ever did anyways, so...

Screw the people making minimum wage.I'm ambivalent about that anyways.

And by all means, let's continue endless bickering while our enemies re-fortify.

I prefer to think of it as lets stop the bleeding while we wait for a Commander in Cheif who isn't really stupid so that we don't continue to do really stupid things.

Fortunately the states are doing a much better job at that than the Feds ever did anyways, so...True as that is, it's far from good enough. America needs an overall plan to get the GHG emissions down to 20% of current levels by 2050 at the very least, and America needs to take a strong leading role on this internationally very soon. I'm ambivalent about that anyways.I am too, ideologically speaking, but realistically, people are working 2 jobs without making ends meet. So fuck ideology. I prefer to think of it as lets stop the bleeding while we wait for a Commander in Cheif who isn't really stupid so that we don't continue to do really stupid things.Me too. Damn your country's in a sad state these days. My sympathies.

But it's the fed that needs to put pressure on countries like China and India and all that coal usage.

10 years is too long for a wage increase. Poor and hungry people tend to commit more crimes, wouldn't you say?

If the Democrats take the house, that wont stop Bush from being stupid, but it will put a leash on him that can keep him from putting SOME of his stupid ideas into play.

True as that is, it's far from good enough. America needs an overall plan to get the GHG emissions down to 20% of current levels by 2050 at the very least, and America needs to take a strong leading role on this internationally very soon.Well California, the biggest GHG emitter in the US, just passed a law requiring that emissions be down to 1980 levels by 2020. That's a damn good start in teh most important state... and with a Republican governor. Also, CA is considered a bellweather state meaning that when CA does something a lot of states follow suit.

I am too, ideologically speaking, but realistically, people are working 2 jobs without making ends meet. So fuck ideology.Well, the reason I'm ambivalent is because I think that's a state issue anyways. The cost of living varies dramatically from state to state. Here, I make enough money to live comfortably and not have to worry too much about bills and I can buy a nice motorcycle and car. The same amount of money in Kentucky and I'd own a house the size of the playboy mansion. I'd be downright rich.

Me too. Damn your country's in a sad state these days. My sympathies.

Yeah.

But it's the fed that needs to put pressure on countries like China and India and all that coal usage. This administration has zero credibility with anyone so as long as Bush is in power we can't do anything about that. Doesn't matter who controlls Congress.

10 years is too long for a wage increase. Poor and hungry people tend to commit more crimes, wouldn't you say?Well, I think it's a state issue for the reasons I stated above.

If the Democrats take the house, that wont stop Bush from being stupid, but it will put a leash on him that can keep him from putting SOME of his stupid ideas into play.

That's why I'm glad the Dems look like they'll win.

Still, it's much too little and it's on a far too tiny scale. Just as important, America needs to be the international forerunner on this, because otherwise nothing happens... And if nothing happens, the fuck up in Iraq will look like the greatest idea of the century by comparison. We have relatively few years to start doing something, and an international agreement will take time.Well, the reason I'm ambivalent is because I think that's a state issue anyways. The cost of living varies dramatically from state to state. You'll just have to excuse this idiot forigner. I'm not used to thinking of two levels of government. You're undoubtedly right.

Bwahahahahahahahahaha!

:p

TIME: What do you think a Democratic House would be like?

CHENEY: Well, I don't expect that to happen. I'm optimistic that we're going to hold both the House and the Senate. One of the things I do talk about on the campaign trail is the importance of what we've been able to do with tax policy. If Charlie Rangel were to be Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, he would put at risk-because of his beliefs; he just fundamentally disagrees with those tax policies-he would put at risk some of the best economic policy this nation has seen in a long time. It has produced phenomenal results for the economy.

They probably know Bin Laden is dead, but they won't release it to the press into a week before election day.

as far as minimum wage goes, i was making slightly more than minimum wage last time it went up. as a result i started making minimum wage and my standard of living decreased.

the gain for those on the bottom is temporary, the loss for those just above is forever.

I don't know what it will be, but Rove closes like nobody...I'm not getting too optomistic until Wednesday, November 8....

Yeah, because it's India and China that have 5% of the population but produce 25% of the GHG. Oh, wait, that's actually the US!

The US doesn't need to reduce emissions to 20% by 2050. That would bring it down to current European levels. The US needs to reduce it's emissions to between 5 and 10% by 2050.
