Yeah, that's the thing. She didn't say anything about actual collisions. When I played tag with other kids back in elementary school, we almost always collided. It's called coming in close for a tag, bitch.

Lol, i used to love full contact tag. it is what being a kid is all about. I remember playing Freeze Tag where someone on your team could "break" your freeze if they plowed right into you. good times.

Dodgeball is under assault as well. That game teaches you the realities of winning and losing. if you're fat then you are gonna be out first. so lose the weight or just kick my butt later in wrestling. tag though...? now it is ridiculous.

Why not? Children shouldnt be allowed to become bankers and take 4 of their friends on some rickety splinter laiden wagon across western America. What if they get bitten by a snake? Or get typhus? Or learn that Indians think thundersticks are magic? Or break a leg two consecutive days and heal in a week?

Or think $3 buys you pounds of grain? They'll be stuck in economic quagmires for life.

Not to mention the environment hating buffalo slaughter and mindless horse abuse. How many rivers can one horse take!

Oh man, I almost forgot about fording rivers. In my class. We'd always buy nothing but oxen, travel at a rediculously grueling pace, and ford every river. What? The river's 4000 ft wide and 700 ft deep? Man..........I'm goin for it. Man those were the days. The TOP TEN actually meant something.

1: Yeah, it was so fast-paced at the elementary school in this town, that no fat kids would even attempt to play tag with us. And we played full-contact... Twice. Turned out that very few of us liked it. :p

2: I love dodgeball. I was so good at it... I had great hands, I could throw extremely hard, and I was always the most nimble player on the field (though not necessarily the fastest). I gained a lot of respect in 3rd grade, thanks to my dodgeball skill. I was quickly becoming the best player in the school, and before I moved away, I was second only to the 5'6", 10-year-old man-child, Martin.

It was funny, because nobody had ever successfully caught one of his throws (he threw unbelievably hard for a child). I threw a ball at him, and it barely missed. He grabbed a dead ball, and as I tried to scramble to get a ball that was close by, he threw one at me. I turned, and I caught it like *snap* that. The kids from the other classes gasped in awe, because that had never happened before. Martin's jaw dropped, and the P.E. coach had a look of disbelief on his face. After that, I really didn't have much trouble competing at his level, as I hit him quite a few times, and caught several of his attempts. My forearms would be covered in stamps, just like his were.

Heh, a lot of memories a thread like this can stir up, eh?

aside from the sanctioned games of bombardment and tag at school...my personal favorite was kill the man with the ball, and oddly enough, everyone wanted the ball.
go figure.
anyone remember that game?
i went to catholic school and they wouldnt let us play it during recess, not cause we got hurt(and damn we did play and get hurt)
but because we would destroy our uniforms, and i guees our parents didnt appreciate having to buy us new or sew our clothes every other day.
quite the violent and brutal game...but we all loved it(cept the weaker types)but they just didnt participate and did something else.

these yuppie soccer moms have to be stopped!(lol)

i say leave all the games be..if you dont want your kid to play (if it is a school sponsored game)write him a note and the school can have an alternative game for them to play....simple...no?

as brutal as they may seem to some, they do teach the kids certain realities of life.
good lessons and bad to be sure, but lessons nonetheless, and isn't that the point of growing up,and not constantly coddled by mommy...thats sick.

let the kids play is all, they will sort it out.

Wussification of America. In about 100 years this country is going to be so full of such panzies that we wont even be able to fight anymore. Mob rule will take place becuase no-one can fight them becuase they are to afraid of violence. Or any pititful or powerful army in the world will invade and the wussififed US will fall faster and more embarssingly than the French in WW2. Its seriously getting so discusting. If any kid gets into a fight in almost any school even if they are only defending themselves, they all get punnished to the extreme. WE NEED to teach kids to fight and to stand up for themselves, thats what america is based on. And then, In sporting events all kids get participation trophys. Thats the biggest bullshit I've ever heard, you have to experiance what failure is, you have to experiance what "real' succsees is. People are so worried about hurting people's feelings and being politically correct that its fucking mind blowing. People need to grow a pair and need to understand life isnt Nice-white house Suburb land. People need to teach kids how to work, struggle, fight, and survive, becuase that is the world we live in.
Slaughterhouse five
19-10-2006, 04:49
we need to keep our children in rooms by themself so other kids dont hurt them

the room has to have padded walls so they dont get hurt from that

the lighting in the room has to be low but not to low so it doesnt hurt their eyes

the sound has to be at a low level to prevent hearing loss

air must be cycled through 15 filters to make it pure

why cant they just go back to the 40's when slides and other playground equipment were made of metal and high enough that if you fell off you would actually maybe skin your knee and learn a valuable lesson in balance.

Well, as someone said in the other thread on this topic, what are they supposed to do? If a kid gets injured, the school gets sued. It's a dumb ruling, yes, but understandable - they're just covering their own bases (but in all likelihood it won't stop kids playing anyway, and if a kid gets hurt while the game is supervised, they'll get even more flak now).
