Pharmacists are developing a medication that would eliminate the psychological urge for sleep. But they say it won't be ready for testing untill at least 2015.

But seriously, that shit's gunna revolutionise the world.

Well, you asked for a cure for tiredness, not a cure for English papers.

On all-nighters, I will sometimes sleep for 15 minutes if I get too tired. My productivity after the nap is much better.

That's just scary...

I love sleep. Now the Man is going to take it away from us!?

You know they'll have us working in round the clock factories, right round the clock don't you? People think graveyard shifts are bad? Wait until you no longer have the excuse that 'you need to sleep'...

The next generation is in for a lot of trouble. I say protest. Fall asleep in front of your nation's parliament/legislature today!!

But just think of all the spare time you'd have! You've practically doubled your waking lifespan.

And besides, maybe every month or so you could check into a hotel and just skip a dose... just for a treat ;)

So, I could spend an additional 7 to 8 hours trolling on the NSG boards?

I would like to retain some sanity...

Me, too. Sleep is the best remedy, if you can get it. In my life, sleep falls into the hobby category, a spare-time recreational pursuit - wikipedia.

It'd would be great to a cure for tiredness but I'd love to see a remedy for insomnia that doesn't leave you either addicted to pills or feeling more tired than you already were.

I have a cure for both... don't wait until the last minute to write your papers and then pull an all-nighter to do it.

I know, I know, the HORROR of the idea... but it'll make your papers better and give you some sleep.

Other than that, listen to annoying music. Loud.

Repeated doses of caffeine until you're shaky. Then you won't be able to sleep or think.

And for future reference, remember this mantra. "I will not wait until the last minute." "I will not wait until the last minute." Repeat until it's indelibly imprinted on your brain.

Realistically, go to sleep. Unless you've already strained your credibility with your teacher to the breaking point, explain to him/her that you could not finish in time and ask for an extension. Your grade may suffer a little but not as much as it would if you wrote it while exhausted and turned in an inferior piece of work.

Fuck 2015 -- this stuff's available now (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=&contentId=A61282-2002Jun16).

It enables 40 hrs awake, then 8 hrs asleep, then another 40 awake, before needing to "catch up". No nasty, jittery side-effects, either.

As the meat puppets used to say, thanks to modren chemistry sleep is now optional.

(I happen to like the bass ackwards spelling of "modern" OK? It just fits some phrases better:D )
