This is just silly, IMO. What kind of threat would anyone pose from space? Unless there's an alien invasion I wasn't told about...

I think George played too much Command and Conquer...
Now he wants Particle Cannons.

Though that would be a fun way to hunt down insurgants... (Run from my sky lasers!! Run little men!!)

Didn't you know? That's why they bomb the NATO allies, so they can get their "space"!

I don't think it's that bad of an idea. There are other nations going into space so yes we should protect our assets and interests.
It will help prevent others from interfereing with our satellites and whatever. Also, It is a step closer in getting weaponry from space so maybe we'll have less soldier casualties on our side.

I think it's a pretty good idea.

Now we can have laser cannon that can scratch our ass from space!

If our enemies are not planning to build space lasers, then this measure will have no effect. If they are, then we'll be saving lives. Why would anyone be against it?

It's a pretty good idea, assuming that every country that has gone into space has some sort of weponry or military base up there... which nobody has, AFAIK.

And the US putting weaponry up there wouldn't do much good, I'm afraid. Space a place for peace.

But terrorists from space? HA! What's NASA going to do, stop and search every UFO they detect, and strip-search all the aliens? :p

The United States will preserve the rights, capabilities, and freedom of action in space... and deny, if necessary, adversaries the use of space capabilities hostile to US national interests

I think the idea is to keep other countries, you know, like ones that want to blow all infidels up, or Korea, from being able to place weapons in space in the future. You know, like thinking ahead. If you think it won't happen eventually, you're crazy. We already have satellites that can launch nukes from space, and technology is only going to develop faster.

Eventually, another nation is going to put weaponry in space, and this document lays the groundwork for the US then.

"Space is a place for Peace?" While idealistic retard thought that up? That will only last until it gets much cheaper to do launches, and then when everyone can do it, the next war that comes along will involve space warfare. And whoever wins space will control the planet, btw. It's hard to defend against missiles and weaponry fired from orbit.
