how popular are you?

Smunkeeville
18-10-2006, 20:02
or....rather how popular is your name?

http://ww2.howmanyofme.com/

there are 2 people in the United States with my exact name. (I assume one of them is me... LOL)

statistically 93.475% of the people with my first name are male, which is actually less than I gathered in real life since everyone I have ever met (other than my husband whom I married) has said "wow, I never met a female with that name"

:p

Edit:

and statistically there are 3 people with my oldest's name and no people with my youngest's name, so for entertainment purposes only LOL

Oh, and there are only 8 people in the US with my youngest's first name so I guess people aren't lying when they say "I have never heard that name before"

18-10-2006, 20:19
My whole last name doesn't exist. Thought my brother did a little research and found that while there are a group of people we don't know with my last name, only one family ever came over according to immigration records with our last name so we're all part of the same group. So there aren't many of us, though more than I had thought growing up.

As a result, it says there are none of me as well, but I certainly exist and there are two others, unless they are both the same guy. They might be, they're pretty close to each other. One is a horseshoe champion and has a close encounter with aliens documented on a website (why is other me so much cooler than me?) and the other other me is a baseball player at a community college, but I think he got cut because almost as soon as he was up he was missing again.

Here is even weirder news:

959 with my last name and 0 with my first name - no surprise there, though. My mother was in a sort of hippie/cult commune when I was born. She & her friends were all into obscure names so I got stuck with a first name that most people can't seem to be able to read/pronounce. Even though it's spelled phonetically! If I'm ever waiting for an appointment, it's easy to see if it's my turn because there's always a lengthy pause & lots of worried looks from the receptionist before my name is called. I usually just stand up quickly and say, "yes, it's me." I've never been wrong yet. Ma did give me an ordinary middle name so I use that a lot for work, etc. It is kind of cool to have an exotic name but it can also be a huge pain in the butt.

While both names you entered were found in our database, neither was common enough to make it likely that someone in the U.S. has that name.

There are almost 50,000 people with my first name, and an entire town with my last name, yet not one person in the country is reported to have both of them put together. I guess I really don't exist. Add to this the fact that the IRS repeatedly has no record of my ever having paid taxes, the military lost my paperwork twice, and the police couldn't find a record of my fingerprints...

I knew I should have picked "International Super-Spy" at career day.

Heh. I know the feeling. My mother, a devoted Tolkien fangirl, gave me a Quenya (high Elvish) name. It's pronounced precisely the way it looks, but that doesn't stop people from being baffled by it.

Personally, I like being able to be pretty confident that I'm the only person with my full name in the world. I'm special. :D
