Political ads on YouTube

This seems to be a popular thing now, posting political ads on YouTube. Makes it easier to get them out to your supporters on the net, and cheaper too, I'd presume. I don't believe we can imbed them here, so I'm simply going to post a couple of links, and I'm starting with a doozy. This is just about the most over the top attack ad I've ever seen. Vernon Robinson accuses his opponent of practically everything but shitting on the US flag.

Enjoy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE3SNHGMa10&eurl=).

That's hilarious!

God, it makes you realise how classy the majority of British politicians are. Even if they're mostly pricks.

It's always fashionable to compare the US to the Romans. Back before the Empire, when Rome had elections that meant something, one of the most frequent charges leveled against a political opponent was that he liked boys. I'm surprised that wasn't in the Robinson ad.

Oh, and it was Roman elections that gave the word "candidate." When running for office, a Roman would put on his best toga, one whitened with chalk - a toga candida, to go declare his intention to stand for an office.

The nice thing about living in the New York metro area is that there really is hardly any political campaigning.

Comrade Spitzer is making a little noise, but that is mostly just to keep up the pretence of democracy I think. I don't even know who her thighness's opponent is.

The People's Republic of Jersey sometimes allows its campaigns to bleed onto the NY airwaves. I often wonder why however, because they are even more of a one party state than NY.

The reason you see Jersey ads in New York is because New Jersey doesn't really have network TV stations of its own. There are local ones and PBS but no one watches the former and no one advertises on the latter.

Channel 9 is out of the PRJ. It's networkish. I really don't watch all that much network TV. I was more talking about stuff on the radio.

Ahh Youtube, my favorite place to annoy people who deserve it besides NSG.

Jihadists, Rightwing nutjobs, Left wing nut jobs, normal nutjobs. Good fun.

i assume someone is going to call him on the fact that some of those flag burning pictures don't appear to be from the united states, and certainly none of them appear to contain anyone that looks particularly like an illegal immigrant to the us. oh, and that hr 4437 was the 'make paperwork issues a felony because our jails aren't full enough' bill.

well played, i say.

By the way, if any of you have favorites of your own, by all means post them here. All parties welcome.

I've noticed the same thing on myspace. Politicians are starting accounts, groups, and some have even participated in the forums.

I really do not get why "bilingual only" would be a big deal. I even think that people should be obligated to learn at least two languages.

Utterly vile. It isn't even a decent piece of propaganda.

Here's a solid attack ad (http://youtube.com/watch?v=w0ngLMU_6J0). It's part of a series going after some Senators.

It's so over the top it actually made me laugh. There was a case in the Missouri Senate race the other day where the Democratic candidate Claire McCaskill, when asked about a Jim Talent attack ad replied "why doesn't he just call me Satan's sister and get it over with?"

Since Satan is a fallen archangel.. wouldn't his sister be almost divine ? ;)

I liked how Jim Talent "made light" of her sinister plan to murder the elderly!

At least your political candidates haven't set up video blogs yet:

http://www.webcameron.org.uk/

We've already been treated to him discussing his policies while 'oh-so-casually' loading the dishwasher and talking to his children, and his 'oh, is there a camera on?' discussion about the Prime Minister in a car. I can't wait for the next episode; I hear he's going to be putting his washing on the line.
