Is Ruffy silly for thinking..

.. that a $55 2oz bottle of cologne is cheap?

I was at the mall today looking for clothes (for a wedding) with mommy and my brother. Well I only needed a shirt to match my sexy pin-stripe suit, so I was finished faster than they were.

I decided that a nice cold strong big cup of espresso would be nice.. went to the coffee store that feels the need to not put prices or menus anywhere. Being the complicated little ass that I am, I asked if she could just fill the cup with espresso and ice, this confused the hell out of her, I'm not surprised.. Well yadda yadda.. I was happy with the coffee. Got a piece of cake, she gave me this HUGE slice, pretty cheap too..

Well anyways..

Went back to the store only to find that they weren't done yet. I started looking around at the colognes to waste time, being an (unintended) ass and spraying everyone of them just to see what the smelled like.

Adidas was meh, Dior was bleh, then I found it. The bestestest cologne evar.

Sean John Unforgivable. *drools*

I asked the lady how much it costs, $55 for 2oz, $75 for 4oz.. Now when I heard the prices, I thought Oh that isn't bad.. Told mother about it, she smelled it, loved it, and then I told her the price, which I think, is cheap, she giggled a lil then said "Maybe for your birthday".. :D

Well then I got to thinking.. the 4oz bottle is actually cheaper, because you get more for only $20 extra..

Am I right, or should I be shot for thinking this way?

Not at all. If you love it, and it smells good on you (everyone's skin chemistry is different and it will smell slightly different on everyone) then it is worth every penny.

And yeah, get the bigger bottle if you'll use it.

Having recently gone through the painful process of locating an acceptable cologne myself, I'd certainly say it's worth it. I was about to drop $50 on Armani Code (or something like that) before I found a nice bottle of Hugo Boss for around $30.
Not bad

If it were parfum it would depend on if it's the concentrated uncut stuff or the toilet water. For cologne..who knows, the economy is different and rules dont apply.

I'll have to check it out. I've been on just one cologne for a while now (too lazy to find something to rotate in) but I'm getting bored with it, despite still really liking the smell (and its extreme cheapness)

however, it is both too summery and too daytime smelling to be good for my assorted nights out.

oh, and to actually answer your question, no, you aren't. Smelling good is a good thing. *nod*

I don't think it's a bad price. Remember, though, that the bigger bottle isn't always the best deal. Unless it is pure perfume oil (many colognes and perfumes come in somewhat diluted versions...check) it can and will go bad, quite possible before you would use it up.

Honestly?

Get the 2 oz bottle, kay?

because you might get bored of that stuff every once in a while,
and will want to try something new,
and you can just save the extra twenty to buy some other good smelling stuff.

2 oz can last a really long time if you dont over-marianate yourself in it!

Especially when it's not new. Like when the smell has lingered in a room for too long. I don't know, maybe the chemical breaks down or something, but it gets really bad.

I paid $78 for a 1.7oz bottle of Realm when it first hit the market (It's now $20 or so). I didn't think it was too expensive, but then if I want something, I'll pay whatever it costs. To quote the song "Lick It Up" by Kiss: "It ain't a crime to be good to yourself."

Why do some girls like cologne? I'm a girl, and it seems pretty pointless to me. Then again, I wouldn't ever bother wearing perfume, either. Also, I've always thought that Axe smells very gross.

Ruffy, buy it if you have the money for it and you really want it, but it just sounds way overpriced to me.

axe smells nothing like any decent cologne. there is a reason it only costs $5 for a can, and it is aerosol.

I don't find $55 to be overpriced at all. For a decently good cologne, as this would seem to be, I would expect somewhere between $50-$80. More for a very high end brand.

I still vote go for it.

Not pure, even the highest quality stuff isn't the pure oil. Eau de Parfum (the highest quality) is only 25% oil, compared to Eau de Toilette, which is 10%.

I pay £1.50 for two cans of antipersperent from Superdrug (which are quite effective and smell nicely of freshly cleaned linen) and ontop of that £2 on two cans of Lynx (no specific fragrance preference, just whichever one catches my eyes) which gives me a bit more of a nice smell whenever I'm hitting the town.

And that lasts me about a month and a half.

No offence, but its a bit foolish to spend anything more than that.</student frugality>

That's not that bad; I've paid more for cologne for my boyfriend as well as perfume for me. I'm a big fan of smelling good. As long as you're not dousing yourself in it, it should last a long time. I say go for it.

there is a fairly significant difference between a deoderant spray (axe, lynx, tag, etc.) and cologne. One smells like a locker room/guys dorm, the other actually smells nice.
My cologne is $20 (at most. I'd actually say closer to $14) for enough to last me about 6 months, wearing it every day.

Do you need cologne? no. Same as you don't need a nice car, clothes, shoes, haircut, etc. But smelling good, at least to some people, is the same as looking good. It changes how people percieve you.

Remember, smell is closely linked to memory. Smelling good can be, in some cases, more important than looking good.

ETA: oh, and noting beats having several girls who run up to you in the hall and give you a big hug, citing the fact that you always smell good. Same goes for why girls always want to drive in my car or lay in my bed (not sexual here). They smell good, and smell distinctly like me.
