When I was 31, I (briefly) dated a couple of 19 year olds, one of them a Brazilian swimsuit model (I swear this is true).

It was no doubt great for my ego in the immediate aftermath of a painful breakup with a woman only two years younger than me, but realistically - once the real me resurfaced from rebound mode - I realised how empty the whole thing was.

Some level of shared interests and shared worldview are usually key to a successful long-term relationship (once you get past 'you're hot, let's shag'), and while I don't doubt that some couples featuring significant age gaps manage both of those, in my experience you're more likely to achieve that with someone closer to your own age.

So personally I'd say + or - about five years my own age, though I stress that this is now hypothetical these days since I'm quite happily married. To someone 3 years younger than me.

Age isn't an issue with me. I've dated women in their late 30s, and I've dated girls in their late teens, though the latter only when I was 20 or so.

I like older women, but usually 5 or 6 years older is my limit. If I really like her, though, I'll make an exception if she's over the age limit.

Both actually. I like the different views people that differ 5 to 10 years from me have on life, often making them more attractive to me than people closer to my own age. A difference greater than 10 years in either direction however starts to make them physically unattractive to me.

Of course, exceptions may exist. Though in the direction of the young ones an agedifference much greater than 10 years would come close to making me me a pedophile.
