All-right, basically,I signed up as a voulunteer to work in a fortune telling booth for a Halloween carnival in my school for three reason:

I need to do some community service hours for a school program I'm doing, I can do some simple card tricks and you get free candy.

Anyways, any of you guys have any suggestions for improving my showmanship? Obviously, this will be for elementary school kids, and fairly low budget, so no like, floating elephants or any of that is possible. I think card tricks and fake fortune telling is pretty much what I can do. But I'm open to suggestions.

Oh yes, also, I don't know what to wear. I have a few ethnic clothes, but no turban... but I'm male and I have long hair, so I think I'll just do a gypsy kind of look.

Try and fnd an old stove pipe hat.... the effect being something like this :

The advantage is that you can hide your eyes easily when trying to appear concentrated. Adds a bit ti the overall effect

bring a deck of cards, deal out about three and make up what they "mean"

example :

Jack of clubs
2 of diamonds
7 of spades

the Jack of clubs means that you should be nicer to people, and the 2 of diamonds means you should make your mom a present, and teh 7 of spades means that you should play outside more

you know BS the kids. ;)

Bring a bat to beat the first parent that says that fortune telling is evil and the devils work or as a kinda magic has no place in schools..

ummm, if i were a kid that would scare the hell out of me. I suggest he go with that look if he wants people to keep their distance. :D

Make sure you tell at least one kid that they'll die soon.

Dry ice in water to make that cool fog ... :D

Fart, poop and pee jokes. Kids love far,t poop and pee jokes. Tell lots of them while you're doing your routine. :) If you can throw in the word "sphincter" a few times that would be great.
