I just recently got into choral music, and if you have a composer or choir that you like, it'd be a great help if you could post the name on this thread and what exactly you like about the choir/composer's sound. Thanks!

Semi-professional choral singer, right here. *waves*

I like a very wide variety of composers, so I'm not sure how much help I could be there without more information as to your tastes, but hooray for choral music. It's wonderful stuff. :)

I'm currently listening to the Robert Shaw Festival Singers, if that's any help.

Well, Robert Shaw is an excellent and very famous choral director, so while I don't actualy have any recordings of the Festival Singers, I'm sure they're excellent. Good directors make for good choirs. :)

I could be wrong, but I think they have a CD of Rachmaninoff's Vespers, which is a stunningly gorgeous piece of music, if you're looking for more listening material. "Bogoroditse Devo" from that work is one of my favorite pieces I've ever sung.

Personally I just love Grand-band music, especially if its the Wagner "Ride-of-the valkries"-grand.

I love the 'astral' sounds as well, like pure voices that make you think of peace and traquility above the sky or in the grand void of space.
