So tired. Must sleep.

I have been up for over twenty-four hours straight now (somewhere around thirty, I think). I don't think I can even sleep as I've reached an odd point of being too tired to sleep. O_o

This sucks.

A nice warm glass of milk with plenty of nutmeg in it.

Oh, and turn off the computer and go to bed :p

Go read a college-level World History book. Or tax law.

Those'll put you right to sleep.

Some nice warm milk, turn on C-Span, and let your mind relax.

Step 1 though is to get away from NSGeneral, or else you're gonna be stuck in "Just... one... more... post...". ;)

Gah. I'm stuck in it right now. Blech.

And I have to get some sleep so I can be functional for class at 2pm tomorrow. =\

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I do that 2 times a week. Last week I was up for three days.

Cry me a river.

I'm not looking for sympathy (who looks for sympathy on an impersonal online forum filled with strangers? O_o). I'm making A) a public announcement to aforementioned impersonal online forum filled with strangers and B) a post to see if there's any general ideas about going to sleep save for Ambien.

Sleep deprivation deranges the mind. Missing a night's sleep is enough to trigger a psychotic episode in vulnerable individuals, even without a prior history of such. 36 hours without sleep impairs driving skills to the same extent as a 0.1% blood-alcohol condition.

Choosing not to sleep, when you clearly feel the need for it, is just self-abuse. Starting a new thread on the subject looks rather like deliberately taking an overdose of sleep deprivation. You really should turn off the computer, and go lie in your bed until you go to sleep.

Or suck a tab of acid and take it to a whole new level :) Your choice!

Well, sadly, it's not deliberate. I usually get good hours of sleep. Usually. However, I've found myself entirely unable to fall asleep. And I've tried. I've been trying. =\ I used to be prone to bouts of insomnia from time to time, but that hasn't happened in a long time. I don't know. =\

Then, seriously, get away from the computer. This is just going to excite your brain enough to keep you from sleep. Go grab a relaxing book, and some warm milk.

Personally when I get like this, I take a hot, hot shower in dim lighting to raise my body temp up, drink some warm milk, then go SIT and read a calm book for a bit while wrapped in a blanket. Usually after 15 minutes of that, I'm ready to sleep.

Just don't try to force it.

You take it too seriously.

Get to sleep.

As for ambien...

I tried it and I totaly freaked out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambien

Take a look at side effects. I was hallucinating and I ended up waking up on the floor of my kitchen after god knows what. Very blurry.

I'm waiting for Lunesta. I tried some samples of it and it was pretty good. I just need a stronger dose. I had to take 3 at a time. Trazadone knocks your ass out also. But you feel all groggy in the morning.

Try any modern English work of "literature." Anything by Faulkner, the Bronte sisters, of Shakespeare.

I work 3rd shift, 40 hours a week, and go to school every weekday.

I average about 4 hours of sleep per day.

I go without sleep for over 36 hours at least once every couple of weeks.

I'm telling you right now...

SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK!!!

Previous posters' jokes about the sleep inducing qualities of a very boring book had much wisdom in them. A dense book of facts will make the arrogant consciousness submit -- the better and more difficult the book, the quicker your mind will admit that the glory of the day is over, that it has surfed this waking wave of reality all the way to the sand, that nothing but the mind's pride is depriving your body of sleep. A book you respect, a book you value and want to understand in every nuance, will quickly show the shortcomings of a triumphant but tired mind.

I could use some sleep myself. That acid tab is staring at me!

i've been working 11 or 12 hour days for the last week (had the weekend off though w00t :)) and sleeping terribly due to bad nightmares every night. that's not good either :(

my advice to sleep is either drink some stong booze, or put on some talk radio (radio 4 here in the uk works great ;)), lie down, and be bored to sleep :)

Masturbating helps too.

So there you are: drop an Ambien, drink some liquor, and listen to Radio 4 while reading Macbeth and masturbating. Now take your zombie ass to bed!!!

My advice for all such situations: (a bit late for this one in particular, it seems) Drink all the coffee your stomach can handle. Then either amuse yourself until you get tired enough, or if you remain unable, simply skip the sleep.
