Is the US government censoring websites?
The reason is, I just tried to access Conspiracy-Net.com and saw it for about 5 seconds-something about hurricane Katrina, before I was redirected to one of those search sites. I was just wondering if anyone thinks this might be a little more than a coincidence (I'm not saying I do.)

There are so many things in that statement to laugh at, I'm not sure where to start. :D
I didn't say this was serious. I just was toeing the water to see how many conspiracy theorists are on Nationstates. Some of you strike me like that...
But this story actually did happen, but other than that I wasn't really serious.
Wasn't Goatse banned in the US?

Yes, yes they are. And JFK planned 9/11 to stop people from discovering the truth about his death.

Of course the US does. It controls 11 out of the 13 hubs. So don't piss off America or your country is cut off from the Web.

You're probably infected with browser hijacking spyware. In either case, no, the US government doesn't censor sites - but individual ISPs may, voluntarily censor sites as is the case in the UK.

Wasn't Goatse banned in the US?
Using it as a prank was banned, I don't believe that Goatse itself was banned.
Yes, actually. Last year it decided that it would be a good idea to block off the web pages of both houses of Congress (and members thereof) from overseas.
I couldn't access ANY US government web page (Except first.gov) for a while if it was hosted in the US with my Japanese IP, even the IRS.

An old Arab lived in Chicago for more than 40 years. He wanted to grow potatoes in his garden, but he is old, alone and weak. His son however studies in Paris.
One day he wrote his son an e-mail and explained the problem:
"Dear Ahmed, i am very sad because i can not plant any potatoes in my garden. i am certain that if you were here, then you could help me by digging up the garden. love - your father"
The next day the old man received a reply:
"dear Father, please dont do anything in the garden. i have hidden "the thing" there. You know what i mean. love - Ahmed"
Then at 4 in the morning the US Army, the Marines, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA and the Rangers came to the old mans house. They searched everywhere, took the garden to pieces and searched every inch - but found nothing!
Disappointed they retreated.
The next day the old man received another e-mail from his son:
"Dear father, without a doubt the garden has been dug up and you can now plant your potatoes. i cant do any more than that - Ahmed"

Yeah -- the part about the potatoes kind of gives away that this very old joke was originally about the father of a jailed IRA member.... you know, in Ireland.

The manifestation of all that is immoral, unjust, evil, cruel, banal, insane, repulsive, and ugly in the world. Avoid it like the plague.

Now that is just seriously fucked up.
So fucked, in fact, that even Wikipedia refuses to show it. Really, it doesn't work on my computer. :p

Of course. They don't announce it publicly, of course. And they don't do it to big websites like this, where many people would notice. But they most certainly do.
