I can't ask that if there's a black person in the room?

In art class on friday, we weren't doing anything so a friend pulled a troll doll out of her purse, and started playing with it's hair..

Well three of us were talking randomly about the doll.

I said "I wonder what its race is".. they whispered "zomg shut up!" because there was a black girl sitting near us.

I was thinking more along the lines of Indonesian..

So then, please tell me they were over reacting.

They did kinda overreact, but it's smart to keep such comments to yourself, unless you want to find out if there really is a god or heaven really, really fast.

Perhaps the black girl is sensitive to racism? Or perhaps your friends assumed she was?

Don't see why you would need to keep them to yourself really

Well, they were over reacting, as the average black person doesn't care. But of course, the black girls I know of love finding a reason to bitch someone out, so maybe it was a bad idea, for yourself.

So race is a sore subject with black people?

The only way you'd find out is to go ahead and say it.

Some people are hypersensitive.

Asking the ethnicity of a doll isn't exactly racism...

Your friend actually whispered "zomg"?

*shakes head* If so, you have deeper problems than race relations ....

Most white people drastically over react about Race...annoyingly.

I got boots put to my head because I keep myself skinned---now do you think it was blacks who put the boots to me or whites? Fecking white hippie dippitty dos who wouldnt know a Hammer Skin if they were at a fecking bootparty.

The blacks I encounter seem to instinctively know I am not racist--I have NEVER had a black person mistake me for a Hammerskin. Whites do it all the time.
I aint a fecking scumbag SHARPy either but I digress.

Your classmates overreacted.

But should you have to silence yourself just because someone else is overly sensitive

Not really. Doesn't mean we won't insult you for mentioning it.

Hmm..

Well the girl is very quiet, nice, I wouldn't think she would get mad at the mention of the word "race".

Asking the ethnicity of a doll isn't exactly racism...

Isn't it somewhat racist and stereotypical in itself to assume that just because the girl is black, she is automatically hypersensitive to racial issue?

Actually, it also implies that she is unable to discuss race by being of a certain race, which is pretty racist in itself.

Fair enough, about 2-5% of them are the real quiet types. In that case, they overreacted.

No, but that doesn't always make it the wrong choice.

Asking the ethnicity of a doll isn't exactly racism...No, but Ruffy asked what race it was...though he does seem to have ethnicity and race confused.

But should you have to silence yourself just because someone else is overly sensitiveNo, but sometimes it shows good manners to do so.

Hmm..

Well the girl is very quiet, nice, I wouldn't think she would get mad at the mention of the word "race".Then perhaps your friends overreacted, or maybe they know something you don't? Or maybe they were afraid that she wouldn't hear the whole context of the discussion and think you were talking about something else?

They definitely overreacted, though you probably should have shut up. You know, just in case the white PC nazis want to show you their auchewitz. I know I spelled it wrong. I have some mild dislexia.

This is an idiot knee-jerk reaction - the problem is we think blacks must be treated as children, and that they are hypersensitive. Nonsense. They are individuals like us, and must be treated accordingly. Sugar coating people and hiding your true opinions, save when necessary, is akin to no freedom of speech at all.

if someone gets offended of pointing out the obvious (such as their skin color) then they have a few issues they need to work out.

people that get offended too easily offend me

Well it's like I always say, they're all pink on the inside.

I'm geussing the troll is a troll of somekind. Just call it a pinkskin, meatbag, fleshsack, or some other derogatory name for you puny hoo-mons and you won't have to worry about people getting offended.

I voted I wish I still had a troll doll, because, honestly, i do. They were the shit. But yes, your friends are WAAAAY overreacting.

For the record, I would have jokingly responded, "Why's it always be about race? Why can't you appreciate the troll for what is on the inside? Cheap plastic, just like Barbie and Ken and the Bratz dolls. God. Why do you have to be so judgemental. Why can't you just accept them for who they are!" Then I'd start sobbing dramatically, until I couldn't hold it back anymore, and laugh really really hard.

I think the troll is raceless, btw.

At least, I hope so, considering the heat he's packing (or more accurately, not packing), if you know what i mean.....

Or is that troll a she????
