Stalin based on sheer numbers of people killed, stalin's purges killed about 40 million odd people. Hitler gets a worse rep. because he systematically and purposefully killed his victims but in my eyes a dead person is a dead person

Who was worse? At what? Bush at public speaking. Hitler at playing nice with others. Stalin at cluedo.:p

I made a thread about this same exact subject.

Hitler was insane. Only an insane person could do the things he did with the fevror he did them.

Stalin was rational. He said "We need to get from point A to point B, and we need to kill all these people to get to point B. Ok, let's do it."

In my eyes, this is true evil. Also, by sheer numerical statistics, I do believe Stalin killed more people.

good point, if hitler had as many years of power as Stalin he would have killed many, many more in all likelyhood.

Complicity with Hitler, esp. with Poland.
Unwarranted assault on Finland.
Gutting of competent Soviet military commanders, resulting in having nothing resembling a functioning army to challenge the Nazi advance (and potentially save millions of Russian lives).
Illegal erection of puppet regimes in Soviet occupied Eastern Europe.
Beginnings of attempts to kill Russian Jews (shortly before his death was when this project really geared up).

I personally dislike Stalin more. He seemed less crazy, and one who could do things like he did in full control of his faculties is far more despicable than a man who does the same things in madness.
