One lawyer's opinion on the coming election

I believe the shitrain's darkest before it clears, and that any of us can make a difference. But I also believe that those of us who should be doing so are part of a huge majority too turned off by the carnival of thugs, saps and swine running the turnstiles in The Big Processes to engage them. Nothing that happens four weeks from now is going to change our lives drastically. The same predictable bought-and-paid-for degenerates are racing for top slots in the Parliament of Whores. A blue or red wrapper doesn't mean much when the bag's full of shit... In this festering cycle, with the gallery of Jesus-shuckers, pork pimps, fear evangelists and entitlement pushers offered in my state, I'm thinking I'll buy some nitrous oxide at Wonderland, sneak a balloon in to the voting booth, suck deeply and mash my hand against the levers like Frank Booth groping Isabella Rossellini in Blue Velvet. "Mommy... mommy..."

Yes... It's that kind of voting year... And I'm a weak man. If I had any conviction, I'd do what a true Dadaist would - what I ought to do... not show up at all.

I tend to agree with him. The lousy quality of candidates makes me feel this way every election. In the end I'll vote for the lesser of two evils (I hope) and nothing will change.

Which is why voting is a big waste of time. I hate to quote a leftist, but Emma Goldman was right when she said that if elections changed anything, they would outlaw them.

Vote for a third party. Both the Libertarian party and Nader's party sound better than the top two dogs.

They also stand no chance in hell, with elections permanently rigged against them.

Which is why we should vote for a third party. No rewarding bad behavior by the 2 main parties. We have to force the political mainstream to move over, they won't do it on their own accord.

Pathetic! Gotta be one of them coke laywers! (that had to be coked up and watching stupid movies, just before he said that) I mean, Who the fuck has ever been the perfect polititian?

God I would love to see him here in NS for 5 mintues just to tell him:
These elections are not about you, douchbag! You dont get a fuckin' prize when it's over! Put down the crack pipe. Pick up your damm ballot and chose the lesser of 2 evils. (what most people have done in most elections, throughout history!)

Whether we vote or not, we end up with a Republicrud or a Democrud.

And that method has proved to be a good thing in your opinion? Picking the lesser of two evils still means you are picking an evil. Not a good thing.

lets face it though. Choosing between the two top parties is not choosing the lesser evil, it's deciding which of identical evils you prefer.

As opposed to sitting at home on your ass on election day? Your goddamm right!

Thank you for pointing out the biggest deficit this country has - the leadership deficit. I am so tired of these shit bag, talking heads. Well, I for one am going to do something about it!

like the man said, a red wrapper or a blue wrapper mean nothing when the bag is full of shit. I'm tired of "the lesser of two evils". Sometimes you can't even tell which is the lesser evil. Both suck the corporate cock and both seek to trample my freedoms. The only choice is which liberties do I want to lose.

:D I apologise but I find that incredibly hilarious for far too many reasons to mention.

Anyhoo, I don't think it matters much what people say or insist the majority will do. The effecting factors are the FPTP system which would prevent any form of pluralism or real alternative and then when you're down to just two parties in which case one must remember that "the opposition doesn't win an election, the incumbent Government loses it".

Elections are just illustrations how much people presently in control fuck up and no matter how people might rant about not settling for the "lesser of two evils", it's all you're going to get.:(

if you give up the elections, what good it do if you wake some months later and stand against the elected?
voting is moral and civil must, unless you agree to stop complain about the decisions that other made for you.

you had no benefits from doing nothing, you still had to deal with the consequences.

Myself, I plan to leave the country as soon as I have the means to do. Things are never going to better as long as we have a government of criminals, by criminals, and for criminals.

People like him are going to shit a bucket of acid one day when a candidate wins by one vote (and they didnt vote because of reasons such as Phil's) and turns out to be a disaster like Bush or Nixon!

Actually, Bush only won by a few hundred votes in both elections if I remember correctly. He actually lost the popular vote in 2000, but he won Florida by just a handful of votes so he got those electoral votes. If just a few hundred more people out of a state with millions had voted we probably wouldn't have an Iraq war right now and people all over the world might still at least think fondly of us.

Did you even read it? He said he was going to vote, but he's disgusted by the process. He joked about getting high on nitrous oxide from Wonderland (great selection of products, but overpriced glass pipes and bongs IMHO) while he votes, but he's going to vote despite the aparent futility of the exercise.

LoL yup! Had to read it a second time to see that he might vote!

"...If I had any conviction (and he speaks like he dosn't) I'd do what a true Dadaist would do (would hate to break it to him {wait, no I wouldn't} he is a dadaist) - what I ought to do... not show up at all!"

Now isn't that just........special???!!!

Sure sounds like he would like other people to not vote to try to give that ridiculous statement some merit. (if that's even possible)

If not this election, I'd bet there will be many future elections that he will not vote. (possibly because of felony conviction for coke, or whatever the hell he's on)

Or possibly: If Bush's brother wasn't the Governor of Florida. (even if thousands of more democrats would have voted in Florida that day. Would it have made a difference?)
