And they can't get him to resign. Beautiful. Now they're talking tough about expelling him after the elections, but hey, this plea agreement has been around for a month now. Why'd they wait so long to get pissed about this?

Because just like the Foley case, all Republicans are interested in now is the winning of elections at all costs.

It took Democrats 40 years to get this arrogant and bad, only took the Republicans 12. I will give them credit, they are certainly more efficient in taking 28 years less to become the thing they preached against.

Oh, and Air America will be operating long after this election. Chapter 11 is pretty common these days, why heck...all of the airlines are doing it...it's in vogue.

Clearly this is yet another example of a noble man hounded by the liberal media and activist judges; why do you hate America?

Fortunately, they had some experienced congressmen like Strom Thurmond and Trent Lott to show them the ropes. :)

I wonder if they shun him like the Amish? Like put him on the Capitol steps and they all turn their backs to him?

I fail to see how this reflects poorly upon the GOP. The price of being so successful is that you'll have more failures. In a bigger bunch of apples, there's going to be more bad apples. Of course, there are also Democrats guilty of being "overly friendly" with Abrahamoff.

to my knowledge not one single democrat has been charged or pled to doing anything illegal with Abrahamoff, not one.

As for how it reflects poorly on the GOP, if you bill yourself as "the party of morality" and you build your base on that premise, don't be too shocked when your base abandons you when you fail to live up to the ideals you set for yourself.

Ney, an Ohio Republican, faces up to 10 years in prison. The Justice Department recommended 27 months behind bars. Ney's lawyers plan to recommend him for a Bureau of Prisons alcohol treatment program, which could cut dramatically the time he serves behind bars.

No. It took this long for it all to collapse. It's like Jenga. The tower is full of holes long before it all comes crashing down.

No, there aren't, and I guarantee you that you can't prove there are. You're either a liar or an idiot--you choose.

Right. It's like with all the money that those Enron guys made. The more money you earn, the greater the likelihood that some of that money is going to be dirty.

Or the more home runs that Barry Bonds scores, the more likely that some of them are going to be due to steroids abuse.

The GOP had staggering success since '94. The more success, the greater the likelihood that some of it is going to be due to the rampant corruption that infests it like an unboiled easter egg that one only discoveres at Halloween has been sitting under the radiator.

Perhaps they should bring back the Prohibition of alcohol!
Then there would be no more corruption in government.

Oh wait....;)

I'd settle for one who's under investigation in re Abramoff, or one who even took campaign donations from him.

Usually it's the dems who get in the middle of sex scandals and republicans that get in trouble about money. Foley deserves credit for trying to change this.

Hey now--we have plenty of Republican sex scandals too. Remember the panic in DC when, during the Clinton impeachment, Larry Flynt offered a million bucks to anyone who could prove Republican Congressmen had been unfaithful to their spouses? Cost Bob Livingston his job and his shot at the Speakership.
