He seems to be a bit of a crook...so is he going to resign or does he need to be forced out ?

At any rate he seems to have made a hidden few million and not paid taxes or done things most LEGAL Americans must do to avoid jail......BUT that CONGRESSMEN are definately supposed to NOT do...or not get caught doing....

So whats up dueling scandles...sex and money...is the nest one going to be drugs ????

Better if they do all three of them .


WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid is awaiting word from the Senate ethics committee on whether he failed to properly account for a business deal that allowed him to collect a $1.1 million windfall on land he hadn't personally owned for three years.

Reid sought the opinion after The Associated Press reported Wednesday that the senator didn't disclose to Congress that he first sold the land to a friend's company back in 2001 and took an ownership stake in the company. He didn't collect the seven-figure payout until the company sold the land again in 2004 to others.

Reid reported the 2004 transaction as a personal sale, never disclosing his earlier sale or the stake in the company.

The Nevada Democrat's deal was engineered by Jay Brown, a longtime friend and former casino lawyer whose name surfaced in a major political bribery trial this summer and in other prior organized crime investigations. Brown has never been charged with wrongdoing, except for a 1981 federal securities complaint that was settled out of court.

Ethics experts told AP that Reid's inaccurate accounting of the deal to Congress appeared to violate Senate ethics rules and raised other issues concerning taxes and potential gifts.

In all fairness Reid did say every thing he did was transparent...sure best way to hide stuff is to be invisible ...:D

The federal Bureau of Land Management is reviewing a pending Nevada land swap that has drawn criticism because data justifying the deal came from the developer _ via its employee who set up shop in a local BLM office.
BLM representatives in Nevada and Washington, D.C., said they won't simply rubber-stamp the land exchange sought by the developer, Nevada Land Resource Co., but they also defended the procedure, saying it's authorized by Congress.
The process was criticized Monday by U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev. The Senate majority whip said he'd support legislation to end landowners'direct involvement in the government's handling of their own deals.
"I'm not saying it's illegal,"Reid said."I just don't like the way it looks."
Reid added he's writing BLM Director Kathleen Clarke to express his concerns about the pending trade of a square mile of private land in northern Nevada for a square mile of BLM land in southern Nevada.

Except for Ralph Regula, but only because he has to stay in the Congress until he's 192, and finally suceeds in turning himself into a God-being composed only of light!

Well, what's good for Bill Frist....

If we're lucky, Reid will go the route of Jim Wright or, better yet, Dan Rostenkowski. More likely, the Donkocrats will rally around their boy as part of their desperate attempt to seize power.

I doubt he will. Sometimes even when caught with their hand in the cookie jar they don't resign. And a stubborn jackass isn't very likely to give up power without a big fight.

What? Their symbol is the donkey.

If he has commited an ethics violation, and refuses to devest himself of the money, or if the ethics committee rules that he has severely violated the rules of ethics and he should leave, he should leave.

I expect that he'll be asked to give back the money, and go through whatever disciplinary acts the Senate has (Detention? :P ) and that all will be forgotten except as political ammunition.

It may also be that he hasn't commited a violation. Any article which quotes "experts" should be taken with a grain of salt.
