Years ago I played a game, you were a character that walked around in a maze were you had to collect some stuff, like some documents. It was 2d and you could play in alone or in a 2 player mode. Between each 'mission' you could buy lives and guns and ammo. It was a crappy game but great fun.:D
Now I forgot the name:( it was something with dogs or hounds in the title.
Someone here should know what I'm talking about:p

Chaos Engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_Engine)?
There were quite a lot of games like that.
Edit: When I learn to read I'll stop making pointless posts.
Re-edit: Dogs of War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogs_of_War_%281989_computer_game%29) seems to fit your description.

No, those are not it:( It was mostly grey and the enemies looked a bit like the Sentinels form X-men. I think you could find extra lifes in the levels as yellow skulls and there were grey suits with an + on it for extra power or something.
Wolfenstein 3D (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfenstein_3D)?

He did say it was 2D, you know.

Technically, it wasn't in 3D. All the characters and items were 2D sprites, and according to Wikipedia:
To render the walls in pseudo-3D, the game used ray casting, a special case of ray tracing. This technique sent out one ray for each column of pixels, checked if it intersected a wall, and drew textures on the screen accordingly, creating a one dimensional depth buffer against which to clip the scaled sprites that represented enemies, powerups, and props.

Reminds me of a badass game I used to play called Loaded, with the sequel of course being Reloaded.

You actually never run out of ammo in the games though you can collect ammo... I think when you have the collected ammo you have stronger shots or something, though I never noticed a difference. I was like 13 when I played the damn game. Lol

At least you had computer games like that when you were 13, though. When I was that age, most of us were still playing Zork. :(

I just remembered why I like that Eiffel 65 CD so much - when I was in middle school I stayed up all night with one of my friends having a sleepover and we had that cd on loop all night while we played all the way through Grandia. Awesome game, awesome CD.
