Tomorrow is Friday the 13th, and it happens in October! So do yall have any special plan for Friday? I have work in the morning, but I do plan on visiting a haunted house that night, either that or rent a bunch of horror movies and watch them. So what about you guys? What are your plans, and do Friday the 13th hold any meaning to you?

The weather on Friday is going to be far too shitty for anything other than curling up under a blanket with a hot drink and a good book.

Shitty too, as I had planned a forest hike at a nearby state park. :(

Actually no, he never really did use one (though he had one used on him).

Hmm... I wonder if I should wear my hockey mask to school tomorrow...

Naw... I think my kids are scared of Jason-sensei enough as is.

I actually do have special plans and Friday the 13th is special to me and esp. ones in October.

My husband and I had our first date on Friday October 13th, so every Friday the 13th we celebrate, we are double celebrating this year though because it's the first Friday the 13th in October since our first date.

I refuse to post our plans. ;)

Nothing special. I am taking the day off but that's only because I worked last weekend all day Saturday.

The 13th of October, which is the Third Day Before the Ides of October by the Roman calendar, was a festival for the god of springs and fountains. We don't know much more than that wells and fountains were crowned, probably with wreaths, and that wreaths were thrown into the springs. The day was fastus, meaning the praetor's court could be open (that court was where preliminary proceedings were held in legal cases, something like an American arraignment court).

Get up at 5am.
Get showered by 5:15am.
Get out of the house by 5:30am.
Drive to work by 6am.
Find a parking spot less than a mile from work.
Walk a quarter mile to the bagel store and get an everything bagel, lox, cream cheese, large coffee regular, and grapefruit juice.
Walk a quarter mile back to work.
Mark papers and eat breakfast for an hour/hour and a half
Snarl at students walking into first period class 20 minutes late.
Give them Independent reading (if they are seniors) so I can finish marking papers. (and since it was a 4 day week this week and last, they've missed out on it two weeks, so it's not a completely ulterior motive here.)
Prep my sophs for the PSAT next Wednesday.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
Come home.
Finish grading papers, and prepare first marking period grades for my students. This may take 2 days.
Come in on Monday morning with completed grades to hand in, shaking and muttering in a sleepless state, "The horror...... the horror!!!!"

Yup, that's gonna be my Friday the 13th and weekend.

This year, it's my birthday, so there's plenty of special meaning. On this day 26 years ago, my mother went through labor so I could be born. =)
