My 13 year old goldfish finally died today. :(
Fishy's Viking Funeral was held in he creek in the woods behind my house. It was beautiful, in the nonflammable Lego boat.
I got him for being pottytrained and he survived three homes and four tanks. The other two bought at *wow* Woolworth's died the first night.
Fishy is survived by his owners and his dog-brother Flurry.
He will be sorely missed. :(
Should I put a few new fish in his tank? What do you guys think? (It's one of those $400 giant tanks, cause he was five to eight inches long. We need to do something, its furniture :) )

I was traumatised when my first goldfish died. Then my heart was hardened, and I barely cried when my second passed on to the watery heaven that all good and moral fishies go to. And then I gave my third away.
I did make my dad fish the first two out, though. I was too sad to do it myself.

My sympthies, I remember when my first Guinea Pig died in Labor. Her son provided 2 years of consolation till he died of an unknown ailment, I've never gotten another one :(.

Absolutely, your fish would have wanted(well, if he was self-aware) his home to have another occupant. Plus, like you said, its part of your home.
I suggest a Clark's AnemoneFish

how about getting a ghecko just for the change. i'm sure it can't be too hard to adapt a fich tank to contain a sticky, bug-eyed reptile.

I'm sorry about your loss. My first fish died last month, (he was a betta) and within the past week, 3 of my other fish died. (One of them was my new betta to :( )

You should defiantly get some new fish. A tank that expensive should never be left empty.

:( We've lost so many goldfish. I don't usually even realise/remember/care that they are there anymore.

I recommend just running the tank empty - with pump and lights running. Eventually you'll grow long flowing tendrils of green algae in the tank. That's when you pick up a really big plecostomus - to eat up all the yummy algae.

Thirteen years? I'm impressed. That's an old fish.
I had my prize powder blue dwarf gourami die yesterday, so I feel your pain. But yes, get new fish. Empty aquariums are depressing.
