Hey all,

I've had a snake with no name for about 3 months now (ok I lie it's had a few but I didn't like 'em). I'm not sure what sex it is. I'm looking for something amazing. Please help.

You could go for something mythological (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Python_%28mythology%29). Pythons are called pythons because of the myth of Apollo slaying the giant snake at Delphi and claiming the oracle as his own. Some good names in Greek mythology. You could just go with "Apollo" - what the heck, god of the sun, of prophecy, medicine ... and a hell of a space program, too!

Apollo's a great name, but I already have a monitor lizard with that name! I didn't know the bit about how the pythons were named thanx!

I'm gonna have a good look into the mythology bit.

a) I think I'd burn in hell for blasphemy (if I wasn't an aetheist that is).
b) if it bites when full grown, I'm in serious trouble. Currently it's just a hatchling (all hatchling snakes come out biting) so i gotta put a lot of handling in to tame it and keep it tame. As they get older/bigger they're usually v.placid.

After careful deliberation(and by that I mean the thought just randomly popped into my head) - no, I'd end up calling it Cat and as my ex-fiancee was called Kat it'd not be good

I decided combining DCD and LG would be a good idea!

Yup teh Burmese is now officially named "Mr. Squeezy the Bionic Hug Machine"

Thankyou to all who've entertained me/helped. /thread

oh and witness (and be amazed) my first quote pyramid^^^^

That... is a good name.
Especially if you want to scare people with the snake.
"Mr. Squeezy, give 'em a hug!"
"AAAAAAAAAH!!!!!"
"Wait, he's not that bad really..."

Excellent. :) I've never been a fan of naming a pet after another animal anyway. Actually I've only come across one case of this happening, I had a friend whose dog was named Chicken. Equally randomly, the name "Mr. Squeezy the Bionic Hug Machine" reminds me of a cat I knew when I was little whose name was "Zippy the Pinhead". All I remember about this cat is its name and the fact that it liked to chase/eat geckos. :p

Too late, judgement has passed;)
plus I have one called Mindy already:)

Whoa.

hehehe don't worry - the guy's a pro! that one was 16ft which is about average size, they can reach up to 21ft.

You probably think I'm nuts now, but I've been interested in snakes as far back as I can remember, I've kept many and had a burmese before which I sadly had to rehome along with most of my animal collection due to moving:(. Now I am settled and have both the knowledge and room. The hardest thing I had to give up was my old green phase (V.rare colour phase) Burmese called Ceaser :(

Lols you're so random it's funny! I searched for the Catahoula leopard dog - I was expecting something incredible from that name and I discovered it's a pretty boring looking working dog :(

Yeah, when the owner of the dog I met told me its breed, I gave her dog a funny look and mumbled something along the lines of, "but it doesn't look anything like a leopard." She couldn't explain it to me. *shrug*

From what I read also it'd probably end up being banned over here due to it attributes. Pitbulls are banned in UK, along with Japanese Toza, Filo Braziliero and another breed I can't remember due to several bad happenings, which is a shame cos when people don't mess them up, pitbulls are really nice (my sister had one). In the wrong hands they're dangerous. I'm sick of the whole "my dog's harder than your dog" mentality. I'm wondering how long it'll be before Rottweilers join their ranks, recently a little girl was killed by two (the owners (who was the girls grandparents) were then later assaulted - 1 was killed) and then a few days later another kiddie got mauled. People suck.:(

Anywho....now you're officially the greatest, randomest ultimate frisbee player I know! :fluffle:

Pitbulls aren't banned here, though if some people had their way they probably would be. In my life, I've never met a pitbull that was anything other than sweet. One of my best friends when I lived in Malaysia had a pitbull that was just a little lovebug. Very sweet; she used to just come up to you, lay her head on your lap, and look at you with her big eyes til you started petting her. Then she would roll over on her side so you could get her tummy. :) Back to bans on dogs though, my apartment complex doesn't allow pits or rotts (sad, because the rotts I know are even sweeter than the pitbulls). Both breeds have bad reputations, but if trained properly from puppyhood they're no more aggressive than any other dog might be (at least in my experience, I'm not an expert on the subject).

All true. Worst dog I had was a mean bastard of a Jack Russell, when I was little(9ish). I tripped, fell on him and he tore my top lip in 2 (I now have a permanent scar but has faded greatly over the years). My parents asked me if I wanted him to be put down but I said no as he was still my dog (he'd bitten loads of times on other occasions but nothing major like this). Saying that people have been killed by the snake I have in this thread (the species not the actual one:p ) animals are dangerous in the hands of idiots.

I had a similar experience when I was little. My very first dog was mean little mutt that we got from someone who was moving and couldn't keep him. His previous owners probably didn't treat him very well, because he was alternately mean and timid when we first got him. I went to pet him once when we hadn't had him for very long, and he reacted violently. Scratched me on the face, and left scars that didn't fade for over ten years. My current dog is a Jack Russell mix (although, apparently I'm now supposed to call him a Parson Russell mix?), but he's very sweet. :)

Parson Russell? Aw..... I kinda like my scar now(yes I'm a freak) it goes with the MANY I have on my arms! No I'm not a self-mutilating emo before you ask! Most of 'em were from my chicken farming days and being Diabetic scratches tend to scar easily. I'm working on tattoo-ing over some of the arm ones though - aiming for a full arm tribal! (money stops that at mo grr!);)

Me too, that warranted a good DEATing in my eyes.

For a triple posting of porn I'd say so!

Not keen on Waldo though.

I just popped that one in there to get away from the "S" names. I got to thinking about it though, and you could always play the game of Where's Waldo. Just hide your snake and watch the fun ensue as everyone tries to guess where your snake is.

:D
