my friend (who is a new age nutjob) sent me a link to a site that describes my sun sign (astrology) now, since I was briefly a phone phsycic I already know all the stuff about the zodiac (which I wish I hadn't learned because it's taking up way too much room in my brain that could be replaced by something useful)

Anywho, this site (http://www.astrology-online.com/index.htm) does describe me, pretty well. I think it might just describe a lot of people pretty well... maybe.

So, what's your sun sign?

does it describe you well?

do you believe in astrology?

Among other traits, Virgos are naturally skeptical, so I don't believe in astrology. :D

The idea that the date you're born on is affected by an arbitrary set of stars that were assigned some random and vague attributes which you are afflicted with is absurd to use the mildest of terms.

I'm a virgo. I'm also a metal monkey.

Sun sign? Is that the normal "star sign" as hastily made up in newspapers during the 11am coffee break?

I'm a Gemini, but I don't think I suffer from multiple personality disorder. Do we? No. That's alright then.

I'm almost totally ignorant of all methods of fortune-telling and divination, and I've never considered them worthwhile/interesting enough to learn about.

I'm a Leo. The supposed characteristics furthermost from the truth: extremely extroverted, pompous, and arrogant; dogmatic; manipulative; self-centered, and having "greed for flattery". I am a highly introverted, generally very reserved, nerd, not in the least pompous or snobbish, while at times somewhat arrogant always willing to recognize my mistakes, and completely unaffected by flattery. I am however quite blunt, and when I deem it safe, brutally honest. I am also quite creative, a rabid freethinker and most eccentric (possibly of somewhat questionable sanity, though I remain abnormally rational).

Taurus

Patient and reliable - yep, for the most part
Warmhearted and loving - i'd like to think so :)
Persistent and determined - pretty much; at least the former
Placid and security loving - certainly the latter

Jealous and possessive - sadly yes
Resentful and inflexible - yup
Self-indulgent and greedy - yeah...

The Taurean's characteristics are solidity, practicality, extreme determination and strength of will - no one will ever drive them, but they will willingly and loyally follow a leader they trust. They are stable, balanced, conservative good, law-abiding citizens and lovers of peace, possessing all the best qualities of the bourgeoisie (:p)

Mentally, they are keen-witted and practical more often than intellectual, but apt to become fixed in their opinions through their preference for following accepted and reliable patterns of experience. Their character is generally dependable, steadfast, prudent, just, firm and unshaken in the face of difficulties. Their vices arise from their virtues, going to extremes on occasion, such as sometimes being too slavish to the conventions they admire.

They are faithful and generous friends with a great capacity for affection, but rarely make friends with anyone outside their social rank, to which they are ordinarily excessively faithful. In the main, they are gentle, even tempered, good natured, modest and slow to anger, disliking quarreling and avoiding ill-feeling. If they are provoked, however, they can explode into violent outbursts of ferocious anger in which they seem to lose all self-control. Equally unexpected are their occasional sallies into humor and exhibitions of fun.

Although their physical appearance may belie it, they have a strong aesthetic taste, enjoying art, for which they may have a talent, beauty and music. They may have a strong, sometimes unconventional, religious faith. Allied to their taste for all things beautiful is a love for the good things of life pleasure, comfort, luxury and good food and wine and they may have to resist the temptation to over indulgence, leading to drunkenness, gross sensuality, and covetousness.

No other sign in the zodiac is closer to earth then Taurus. The main objective in leading a Taurean life is primarily (though not entirely) to maintain stability and physical concerns. Your inner spiritual sense longs for earthly harmony and wholesomeness. When you fully understand this, and work toward this end, you will no longer need to blindly reassure yourself with external possessions and comforts. A realization that finding this inner peace will cause all of the above mentioned positive things will overtake you and your life will be very full.

Ultimately the Taurean needs to discover their truest, deepest and highest values. When they know what is truly valuable, they are no longer chained to people and to things that have to do with lesser values. The greatest indication of value to a Taurean is beauty, which cannot be owned, only appreciated.

It doesn't describe me very well.
Practical and prudent

Patient and careful
Humorous and reservedI'm not prudent, disciplined or patient.

You may find that you can be the recipient of valuable information if you're willing to be a good listener. I would think that would apply to anybody. Chronic health problems are likely to surface if you are keeping your problems locked up inside. Also applies to anyone. Stress leads to heart problems and stuff. If you've taken on a lot of work, be sure to leave some time for yourself and family. Good advice for anyone who's taken on a lot of work.

This horoscope could have been written for anyone. It has nothing in particular to do with me.

I'd like to see that bad stuff as well. I honestly don't know how to navigate that site of yours to find the information you posted below...
do you believe in astrology?
No, I don't. I just find it interesting how much might actually fit, though.
I'm also born in the year of the Dragon and most of those traits fit myself as well... Doesn't really convince me, either.
But I will conceide as much: "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter."http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y223/GermanNightmare/Yoda.png

Traditional
Leo Traits

Generous and warmhearted
Creative and enthusiastic
Broad-minded and expansive
Faithful and loving

On the dark side....

Pompous and patronizing
Bossy and interfering
Dogmatic and intolerant
I'm not particularly tight-fisted, but I wouldn't call myself generous in particular, not more so than most people. Same goes for faithful and loving. I'm not a very creative or enthusiastic person either. :(
How can you be both broad-minded and intolerant?
So no, not very accurate.

A guy went to a class of students at MIT who were studying supernatrual phenomenon. He asked them all to write their birthdates down as close to the exact minute that they could. He went and got all their charts done by some world famous astrologer. He brought them back to class a week later and had them all read their charts. he asked them to all rate their charts on a scale of 1 - 5 for accuracy with 5 being absolutely accurate and 1 being not accurate at all. The vast majority of the class rated their charts a 4 or 5 with no 1s at all. He had them trade charts. They were all reading the exact same chart because he only had one chart done.

Imaginative and sensitive- sometimes
Compassionate and kind-mostly
Selfless and unworldly - not really
Intuitive and sympathetic-pretty much

On the dark side....

Escapist and idealistic- yep
Secretive and vague - hardly
Weak-willed and easily led- I'm one of the most hard headed and contrary people I know

Well according to the link I'm a virgo, and I'd say it describes me fairly well, but it's just broad sweeping statements that could apply to anyone IMO.

My birthday's August 23rd. Some horoscopes place me as Leo and some as Virgo. Anyone know why?

you are on the cusp, I am (and so are my girls) on the year I was born I would have actually been a capricorn because the signs change positions every few years.

you try to do the right thing
you tend to put other people's needs above your own
someone in your life with an A or an E in their name is having really bad luck lately
your parents sometimes annoy you
you were mature at a young age and are more intelligent than your friends
you will find true love soon

So it changes because the signs change every few years? And I guessing some magazines/papers etc. don't keep up with that hence me being a different starsign when I read different papers.

the papers usually keep up with where the sign is that year, so in the year of your birth it would have been correct.

And you were a phone psychic!!! Wow! Yet another crazy Smunkee job I didn't know about!:p

"I just feel like there is no meaning to life"
"you have a purpose, we all do"
"I broke up with my baby's daddy and I am broke"
"there is a job opening coming up in the paper tomorrow that is perfect for you, you should apply"
"do you think baby's daddy will pay child support?"
"if you can prove he is the father you can make him"
"how do I do that?"
"you need to seek advice from the welfare office"
"wow, you know everything about me"

or

"my boyfriend broke up with me"
"he thinks you over analyze everything"
"yeah"
"you accused him of something"
"of cheating"
"he denied it and you pushed the issue, you started snooping around"
"wow, you are psychic"
