Do you really want to read an excepted version? Or might you be looking for an accepted one?

How about a version most English speaking Muslims would agree on .

And not one that is covered in controversy ?

Accepted in other words....

Its what happens when you rely on spell check too often .

That's why I usually depend on my build-in gray-mattered spellcheck. Works, too!

Are you deliberately breaking my balls for some reason or is it just a strange personality trait you have ?

Remind me to search trough your post so I can be a spelling Nazi also .;)

I thought that was supposed to be "built in."

That was a good one...
I was just going to point out that grey-mattered isn't a word.

I really hate this server...

I work with Pakistani and Kasistan (sp ) Muslims and at lunch we entertain ourselves by mixing politics and religion...Since I have no particular religion to grind by default I take the " secular western view "

For one hour we indulge ourselves in this " sport " that they claim is something they do all the time at home and find very refreshing...:D

I find it like one hour of having my brains pounded on by jackhammers with all the stuff I don't know ....:D

So we had this discussion based on this Surat ...

21. "O my people! Enter the holy land which Allah hath assigned unto you, and turn not back ignominiously, for then will ye be overthrown, to your own ruin."

22. They said: "O Moses! In this land are a people of exceeding strength: Never shall we enter it until they leave it: if (once) they leave, then shall we enter."

23. (But) among (their) Allah.fearing men were two on whom Allah had bestowed His grace: They said: "Assault them at the (proper) Gate: when once ye are in, victory will be yours; But on Allah put your trust if ye have faith."

24. They said: "O Moses! while they remain there, never shall we be able to enter, to the end of time. Go thou, and thy Lord, and fight ye two, while we sit here (and watch)."

OR this version...( now you know why I must be correct...you really pay for mistakes in this game ..:D ).

God Gives the Holy Land to Israel

[5:21] "O my people, enter the holy land that GOD has decreed for you, and do not rebel, lest you become losers."

[5:22] They said, "O Moses, there are powerful people in it, and we will not enter it, unless they get out of it. If they get out, we are entering."

[5:23] Two men who were reverent and blessed by GOD said, "Just enter the gate. If you just enter it, you will surely prevail. You must trust in GOD, if you are believers."

So you see two versions of the Quran not quite saying the same thing ..

I know they are setting me up for a lesson . So I figured if they want to take it so seriously ...I will too .

Why don't you just try to find a Qu'ran at a library or something?

though islam101.com does have good info.

You cant take them from the library so what would the point be ? They have Qurans in Arabic and I cant read Arabic..also they say I have to learn ANOTHER book abouut the Life of Mohammed so I can put everything in the right order and context . Also that I get to sudy for life .

I am not converting..just learning . Might come in handy .

A little bit of both. Don't think anything of it. ;)
Do so, I'm grateful for every spelling mistake brought to my attention. (I was trying to make sense out of your OP - and it simply wouldn't match my personal dictionary, hence my first post. The next one, I take it, clearly shows I overdid it. :p)
I thought that was supposed to be "built in."
And of course it is. Thanks, BK.

I was just going to point out that grey-mattered isn't a word.
Gray(-)mattered/grey(-)mattered follows standard English word building processes and it can be used perfectly fine as one.
Something made up of gray matter is gray-mattered.
I'd say it is a word as good as any.

Okay, sorry for the thread-jack - I hope you'll find your answer(s) on and in the Quran. ;)

I think they deliberately gave me a hard one to work on because they want my head to explode .

BTW we are only trying to solve the problems in the Holy land and they are showing me that the answers to all the issues involved are right in front of our faces...if we only read the Quaran ..:D

I should write to my congressman. If it wasn't for the pesky FBI dudes and the Patriot act .....:p

BTW ...I take the more secular pragmatic,,,stop blowing shit,,, up side of the argument . They agree with me then point out again how if you just follow along , with what the book says , stuff wont blow up ! .. No problem..

Never argue over a hoy book by using same holy book. Its like poetry - you can read any old shite into it and it is therefore pointless to bother getting into it too deeply. You stick by the most important guiding principle - "Its not divinely inspired.". The second is the question "Is it historically, independently verifiable?". Keep these in a sock ready to swing and you will lay low all before you.

But they live their lives from this book and from working with them they are very well educated...in fact they have a much better education than I do and they are not only working menial jobs but gladly just for the opportunity to get the educational papers they need to grab the American dream by the balls ..in allot of ways they are much more American than most Americans, I like them and respect them so i cant be disrespectful to their " Book " I may be their superior at work and such ..but they have a really different way of looking at things and I feel it would be my loss to not listen...

If I start swinging socks they just put me in the same bag with the other idiot Americans they have to put up with ..:D

And I never get to gain their perspective .

I can deal with the book arguing because it has a point .

Perhaps you could share the following quote with your friends. In Muhammed's days on earth He never fought against the Christians and in fact rebuked His relatives for not accepting Christ and Moses.

In conclusion, since the Prophets themselves, the Founders, have loved, praised and testified of each other, why should we disagree and be alienated? God is one. He is the Shepherd of all. We are His sheep and, therefore, should live together in love and unity. We should manifest the spirit of justness and goodwill toward each other. Shall we do this, or shall we censure and pronounce anathema, praising ourselves and condemning all others? What possible good can come from such attitude and action? On the contrary, nothing but enmity and hatred, injustice and inhumanity can possibly result. Has not this been the greatest cause of bloodshed, woe and tribulation in the past?
