Wow... just... wow. I'll never buy a Chevrolet now.
Reminds me of those "think different" Apple posters with Gandhi, Einstein, and MLK on them.
if it helps sell, then i see nothing wrong with it.

same here. I still don't get why those were such an issue, nor why this is.
Those men DID "think different"
Personally, I think the new Chevy commercial blows. Mostly because of poor song choice than anything else.

I'm just going to add this to my "List of Reasons American Automobiles are Soon to be a Thing of the Past..." right under "Hummer H2"
And you know what's really funny? It's very likely that your Chevy truck is not classified as domestic because less than 60% of its parts are made in the United States...needless to say, you're not buying America's truck when you buy a Chevy.
If you want an American-made car, buy a Toyota or a Honda...and support hiring workers at good wages and benefits rather than laying them off.

No, mainly because Macs are shitty computers and nobody wants them to begin with.

And Macs pwn PCs.

Umm, it didn't just show Rosa Parks. It also show Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Vietnam, Richard Nixon, 9/11, Katrina, Vietnam's protest, etc. The OP blew this one out of proportion. It's just showing we we've all been through as a country.

The point still stands that it's a commercial for a truck, not a stirring tribute to America's trials and tribulations over the past century. Besides, some of that imagery is pointedly contradictory (i.e. protestors and Vietnam soldiers), and some just shameless manipulation of emotions (Katrina and 9/11).

Commercials are supposed to play on our emotions, or at least that's what makes them successful...but when they're this flagrant and (to a significant number of people) just plain offensive, it ends up making people feel very negatively towards Chevrolet.

Umm, how is it offensive? Now if they show Rosa Park and Dr. Luther King Jr., then a KKK burning a cross, then yea that would be offensive. I just don't see what's offensive about this commerical.

Other than Katrina - and maybe 9/11 - you haven't personally been through any of that stuff, except either as part of a history class - or as part of an earlier montage used to shill other useless shit on the basis of a broad-based emotional appeal.

And for most people, these images are offensive because they represent something tragic in American history i.e. racism (which led to civil rights movement), terrorism, and massive natural disasters. Thousands were affected directly and millions indirectly. Using the memory of these things to sell trucks is just disgusting.
I'm with the author. I will never buy a Chevy after this.

You know, I can understand Rosa Parks's estate wanting to make what they can off her image, given that otherwise, anyone and everyone will be able to do what they will with her likeness. What I don't get is why Chevrolet decided to license it?
Of course, when was the last time GM made a decision worth a damn?

Seeing as how I boycotted anything Chevrolet anyway, this won't make me change my position on them, except to hate the fuckbitches even more for their lack of respect.

Interesting, according to THIS SITE (http://www.blinkenlights.com/pc.shtml), the first actual PC was built back in 1950. They sold 400 units. Plus, IBM and Intel were creating PCs' well before Apple started up.

It goes to show exactly how much trouble Chevy is in. They're making blatant patriotic appeals to try to sell their product, frankly, that's sad. They're finally starting to put out some decent products, but it probably is too little too late.
One decade and GM will be naught more than a ghost of its former self, if they aren't owned by Toyota by then, that is.

Apple implemented the first GUI (Grafic User Interface) in a commercial operating system. They did not even invent it (Xerox tech park did invent it).
