I'm going to run on the persumed assumption (correct me if I'm wrong) that you're not American. The Democrats are the far Left of the American political spectrum. European politics only see them as non-liberal because anything that's right of freaking Stalin is considered conservative in most circles (a slight joke). Conservatives are constantly being accused of being "too patriotic" with the flag waving, hardly a sign of hate.

illegal-immigrants definitely do not hate america considering how they risk their lives to come here. Some of the groups who support illegal immigration as well as the unfounded thinking that the American Southwest still belongs to Mexico may hate america, but not the migrants themselves.

I don't think the question is worded badly, I think the people who responded just automatically went to who they think does the most harm to the US. That being said, I think if any group has done the most to preserve the US in terms of economy and culture, it would be the conservatives.

I agree that the only people who could have answered that conservatives hate the US is either misunderstanding the question or is just purely anti conservative.

But I find that most bleeding heart liberals tend to just want to go against conservatives regardless of what the conservatives propose. I mean I genuinely believe that if the republican party backed Hilary Clinton, the liberals would vote against her for the pure sake of seeing the color red.

But then again, I don't think anyone in their right mind should elect Hilary Clinton into office.

Well, they would argue that the family is a traditional (and in fact necessary) institution of American life. So far, so good. Their reasoning begins to fall apart, and direct itself at liberals, when homosexuality, divorce etc. all come into play. They see liberal support for such notions as destructive to the American way of life, wrongly so in my opinion. The Christian radicals amongst the Republicans also see atheism as a betrayal of Christianity, which they see as very much American. These are but some examples. You see, both sides are in some ways inimical to American traditions and values - they both love America, most of them, I'm sure - but their vision of what it should be differs. Either way, the US differs radically from what it was when it was first founded, sadly. :(
