Given NK's nuclear detonation

What does this do for Bush's tough on security line? Apparently he's just as useless as any other person since he didn't stop a nation that we knew was developing nuclear weapons from attaining atleast one. Instead of invading a nation we knew had the capability and desire we invaded a nation that may of had the desire but was distinctly wanting on capability.

Now we have a nation with missiles that can reach US soil, and they have the bomb.

China is the next Superpower so I don't think America will be able to do anything about NK now or later.

Now we have a nation with missiles that can reach US soil, and they have the bomb.

First we got the bomb and that was good,
'Cause we love peace and motherhood.
Then Russia got the bomb, but that's O.K.,
'Cause the balance of power's maintained that way!
Who's next?

France got the bomb, but don't you grieve,
'Cause they're on our side (I believe).
China got the bomb, but have no fears;
They can't wipe us out for at least five years!*
Who's next?

Then Indonesia claimed that they
Were gonna get one any day.
South Africa wants two, that's right:
One for the black and one for the white!**
Who's next?

Egypt's gonna get one, too,
Just to use on you know who.
So Israel's getting tense,
Wants one in self defense.
"The Lord's our shepherd," says the psalm,
But just in case, we better get a bomb!
Who's next?

Luxembourg is next to go
And, who knows, maybe Monaco.
We'll try to stay serene and calm
When Alabama gets the bomb!
Who's next, who's next, who's next?
Who's next?

The news I heard this AM was that the Chinese were not exactly happy, at least publically, about this. They may be giggling behind closed doors, but it seems to me that it's not really in their best interests in the region or around the world to have someone as ... what's the word I want ... nuts as Kim Jong Il with a deliverable nuke. Not that I think it's deliverable, yet.

Phbt, I can one up ya.

Like moths to a flame
Is man never gonna change
Times seen untold aggression
And infliction of pain
If thats the only thing thats stopping war

Then thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb

Nuke ya nuke ya

War is just another game
Tailor made for the insane
But make a threat of their annihilation
And nobody wants to play
If thats the only thing that keeps the peace

Then thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb

Nuke ya nuke ya

Today was tommorow yesterday
Its funny how the time can slip away
The face of the doomsday clock
Has launched a thousand wars
As we near the final hour
Time is the only foe we have

When war is obsolete
Ill thank God for wars defeat
But any talk about hell freezing over
Is all said with tongue in cheek
Until the day the war drums beat no more

Ill thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb

Nuke ya nuke ya

Well, if we were to invade N. Korea when we invaded Iraq, we would have faced the same criticism as we are with Iraq. I'm still amused as to how some people conveniently forgot that Intel from not only the USA but also Israel, UK, Russia, and some others all declared Saddam did indeed have WMD and also the FACT that he did indeed launch WMD against his own people.

It's hardly my fault Bush was too fucking stupid to plant WMD when he found out Saddam didn't have any. Honestly what kind of politician is he?

China's apparently cut off oil, food and power exports to NK. Looks like they might have decided to jettison Kim rather than support him.
China is in an unenviable position right now. China has few allies, and abandoning one isn't going to increase their numbers. OTOH, They've just spent 15 years modernising, setting up a trade network and presenting themselves to the world as a modern, cosmopolitan and trustworthy nation. Supporting NK could squander all of that, and even trigger a new Cold War with the West - which China would probably lose.
The real question is what China will do if the Security Council decides to act. They'll be forced to make a choice.
