a sun tea jar is a gallon jar with a screw top and a spigot near the bottom.

you put water and tea bags into the jar and set it out in the sun until the tea "brews" from the action of the sun heating the water. it is supposed to make a smoother iced tea tea.

My mom used to make sun tea all the time when I was younger. Her jars never had a spicket though.

id try walmart. its quite possible that you would find one in the clearance aisle this time of year.

any store with a big kitchen stuff section might have one. target, kmart, kohls even.

i think i got mine at the grocery store one year.

thank you but I live in Flushing, NYC where walmart is nonexistant for miles. NYC belief that walmart is evil and corrupts small towns into walmart having no compitition

i used to have to drive 45 miles (one way) to walmart. they finally built a tiny one here. i doubt its going to last though. not enough people, too many theives.

you must have some discount department store equivalent of walmart.

shouldnt you wait until spring? are you going to have enough sunny days in flushing between now and may to give it a try?

:nods: It's one of those things that seem logical if you already know what it is, but which you probably wouldn't guess otherwise.

As opposed to a Sun Tzu Jar which is the little ceramic urn that his ashes are kept in. :)

You can make sun tea in any jar. It was made long before the jars with spigots. Clean out a mayonnaise jar and just use fewer tea bags.
