Barring that, some coffee.
Maybe if you want a hyper drunk.
Really you need some sort of emotional or physical trauma to really snap out of it, but a breathalyzer or blood test is still going to show you as drunk.

Drink more and then stick your hand in a bag of ice.*nods*
Tons of water, asprin, cigarettes, sleep, caffeine,
Caffeine and ciggies work nicely together in a pinch (for me at least), but sleep and water is best.

Blood of a Celtic Man. Proven fact that those of Scottish, Irish, and Welsh descent are sober at a BAC of 0.50. One pint of blood can easily absorb the alcohol present in the system of pretty much everybody else.

Buncha howlin' injuns out for hair'll do it quicker than anything I know, but... A fella by the name of Johnny Diamond had a recipe for an antidote. Now let's see... Cayenne pepper, hot mustard powder, ipecac, asafoetida, and... was it-- no, it was croton oil.
Mix that all up, take a big old swig, and you'll be ripe and sober.
What do you need to be sober for?

Indeed.
Nothing sobers you up but time. Don't go to sleep drunk or you'll wake up with a hangover. Drink loads of water to flush out your system. Don't take over-the-counter pain medication (it doesn't interact well with alcohol and can damage your kidneys).

a Hang over is basically alcohol withdrawl. You're body is craving the alcohol, but its not getting it: Resulting in terrible headaches, nausea, etc.
I get the same thing with Caffine, as I have a caffine addiction.
There is no quick sobering method. At the moment it is physiologically and medically impossible. The alcohol needs time to be broken down in your system and until it gets that time you'll just have to deal with it. It's your fault for being stupid enough to drink the bloody stuff in the first place.

I'm pretty sure JuNii was right on that one, actually. It's dehydration that causes the hangover.

I always thought it was caused by severe dehydration from the body's breaking down of the alcohol.

Headaches and dizziness/nausea are symptoms of dehydration. Dehydration can also be caused or worsened by diuretics, substances that cause increased production and excretion of urine, and, therefore, increased excretion of water. Caffeine and alcohol are both diuretics, if I understand correctly.
At any rate, surely withdrawl requires a physical dependence, whereas it is entirely possible to experience "hangover" effects like headache and nausea from excess alcohol (or caffeine) consumption without necessarily being physically dependent.

Twelve-step programs are Bullshit!
Seriously, they are. They get you absolutely nowhere by treating alcoholism as a psychological disease rather than a physical dependence. Yes, oftentimes one goes to alcohol to get away from stresses and whatnot, but alcoholism is not a psychological disease. It is, I daresay, more a symptom of one than anything else.

Sobering up requires time. However, in a bid to remove excess alcohal in the stomach that is not absorbed yet, eat bread. Also, drinking water before you sleep will help remove the hangover effects the next morning. Course, if you're sitting on a stomach full of booze, and need to get rid of it, make yourself vomit. It'l save alot of moaning and head holding, and offerings to the Porcelin God the next morning.

Exactly...it makes way more sense to deal with the issue that makes a person drink, than it does to just deal with the drinking itself.
The concept of AA is about as logical as the treatment doctors currently have for anorexia....feed them up 'til they're a healthy weight, then label them as "cured", then send 'em home.
The visible symptoms have been removed, therefore the problem is solved.
Treat the symptoms, and the cause will probably just magically vanish on its own.
Anyways...
As for sobering up...
I recommend lots of greasy food, lots of water, and doing something that requires concentration.
Maybe fry some food up....the concentration might sober you up a bit, and even if it doesn't, drunkenly stumbling 'round the kitchen attempting to cook is always loads of fun :D

You are obviously an authority on the 12 step program of AA? You can prove that this program does not work?
BTW, I have several friends that have been sober for several years through AA. They swear by it.

Their own statistics show that their program has as much a chance of curing alcoholism as a person does trying it on their own without any doctor or counselor help of any kind: in essence, 5%.

AA's "own statistics"? Can you provide a link to these statistics?
BTW, many of my sober friends stated that they tried it on their own and were unable to stay sober. They tell me that AA was the only thing that saved them.

I do try to avoid sleeping until after I've been able to restore my ability to focus my eyes, after all, having one good and one bad eye gets really, really weird when you drink too much.
I do know I was barely functional enough to make my way home about three hours ago. I gotta admit I love my drinking teammates Ashley and Eric in an entirely platonic, Christian way.

Nothing can really sober you up but time, trust me I've tried everything. What I would recommed though is crackers, lots of water and cigarettes. Especially the water because if you dont drink enough(water) tonight you will be dehydrated and wake up with a hangover which are a bitch to deal with. So enjoy your time with alcohol and have good night.

Drinking water does not sober you up.
Eating food does not either.
Exercise does not.
Fresh Air does not.
Sleep does not. Your body metabolises alcohol more slowly when you are asleep.
Caffine does not. Vodka redbulls anyone?
Some of these make you FEEL sober, but don't go taking a breath test.
The only real way to increase your rate of sobrierty could be to give yourself a continous blood transfusion, taking out the blood already in your veins and replacing it with alcohol free blood.
If you don;t happen to have a handy stock of blood and transfusion equipment then best not to drive or do safety critical work. And don't overdo it - due to slower rates of matabolism of alcohol while asleap it is easy to wake up still over the limit.
