Hey. I am planning to buy a wah-wah pedal, but I'm not sure which one to buy. My friend says a Dunlop Cry Baby, what to you all suggest?

I suggest you don't buy one and get a decent FX box instead, but that's just personal taste.

What kinda guitar do you have?

Crybaby Original is still the best wah-wah pedal on the market IMO. I have a muliteffects unit with a pretty good wah on it (which I'm selling:)(cheap)). Generally speaking mutieffects wah's are pale in comparison to the crybaby. Best thing to do would be to head on over to a music shop and try a few out.

I'd say your friend is on the money. The Cry Baby is arguably the "classic" wah pedal; but they can be a little pricey (down here at least). Still, if you can afford it or find a good quality one second hand they're worth the extra investment. I'm after one myself, but I can't afford it at the moment. Shop around, though. Most guitar stores will let you try out different pedals to see which one you like the sound of best - you might find a really good one-of-a-kind homemade one in a secondhand store or something.

IMO, you should avoid multi FX pedals; they do a lot of things, sure, but they don't do a lot of things particularly well unless you're willing to pay almost as much as buying a set of seperate pedals anyway.

Sage advice.

If you really want a wah, get the Cry Baby.
I would suggest looking for a good used one on Ebay.

As for mulit-effect pedals, like Kanabia says, they do a lot of things, but none of them sound really good.

Mulit-effect pedals tend to sound very thin, and even the ones tyhat have lots of distortion, just dont have than genuine sound.
In essence, they sound kinda thin.

Go with different floor pedals.

Stay away from the rack-mounted effects processors as well.
Very pricey, and again, you lose lots of the meat of the sound.

Just go for seperate pedals.
