25 years ago to this day, a genuine statesman and hero, Anwar al-Sadat, was assassinated. Let's observe a moment of silence to observe this man who, whatever his faults, did much to advance the cause of peace.

Check my first post again. I acknowledge he had his faults. In terms of domestic policy, his legacy was an odious one. In terms of foreign policy, he was heroic.

Which part of The Yom Kippur War was heroic? And how about the 6 day war, in which part he was VP of egypt? Or the helping of deposing King Farouk, just because he lost the 1948 war against Israel? If you count those things against Israel as heroic, then I guess so.

ANd btw, i do know he signed peace treaties with Israel, but it was only after the UN, US and USSR demanded so

Still, it's a start. Compared to many other Middle Eastern leaders, he was a saint.

*snip*

And Farouk was a massively corrupt, incompetent boob who deserved to be overthrown. Not like his replacement was any better, but he still had to go, IMO.

Well compared to Osama, Tim McVeigh is a saint, but doesn't mean either one is good in anyway, and worthy of recognition.

If it was soley over him being corrupt, good. BUT it was mostly over him not winning the war in 1948

No enemy of Israel is a 'great man'.

You mean, no-one associated with the fabricated Jewish State is a 'great man'.
Every enemy of Israel is a good man.
