Vatican to review state of limbo

atholic experts are expected to advise Pope Benedict XVI that teachings on the state of limbo - somewhere between heaven and hell - should be amended.

For centuries many Roman Catholics have believed that the souls of babies who die before baptism remain in limbo.

But the concept has never been part of official Church teaching, and it is thought Pope Benedict may be keen to do away with it.

The Pope has been quoted as dismissing the notion as a mere "hypothesis".

Mere hypotheis, huh? You mean, like Heaven?

I'm not sure I care for this simplification. Getting rid of Limbo is like removing levels from a Mario Brothers game or something. It takes a lot of the fun out of discussing the afterlife. ;)

Limbo is the place in hell where people who weren't really bad, but weren't good either went, (assuming you weren't still good enough to go to Purgatory). Its a dark pit where the emotion "Joy" is impossible.

(Learned this from Dante's Inferno. Book concept = Cool. Old English as the only translation = Ick.)

Do look around, there are some very good translations of Dante out there. I'd refer you to one but it's at home and I'm not.

I bought a serial printed in the late 19th Century at a rare book shop a couple of years ago.
There was 20 magazines with great illustrations and a good, modern (late Victorian modern) prose.
Good score, if I do say so myself. Pretty cheap as well, cause no-one wanted them. They'd had them sitting there for months apparently.

Every limbo boy and girl
All around the limbo world
Gonna do the limbo rock
All around the limbo clock
Jack be limbo, Jack be quick
Jack go unda limbo stick
All around the limbo clock
Hey, let's do the limbo rock

Limbo lower now
Limbo lower now
How low can you go

First you spread your limbo feet
Then you move to limbo beat
Limbo ankolimboneee,
Bend back like a limbo tree
Jack be limbo, Jack be quick
Jack go unda limbo stick
All around the limbo clock
Hey, let's do the limbo rock

Get yourself a limbo girl
Give that chic a limbo whirl
There's a limbo moon above
You will fall in limbo love
Jack be limbo, Jack be quick
Jack go unda limbo stick
All around the limbo clock
Hey, let's do the limbo rock

Don't move that limbo bar
You'll be a limbo star
How low can you go
