Cats, Dogs, and Politics
The thought crossed my mind if it is possible that one's preference for cats and dogs may somehow be indicative of one's political stances. So, I've decided to put up this poll to see if there's any correlation, and then we can discuss any results.
Edit: Been some confusion. Liberal= Leftist, ending at its most extreme point with anarcho-communism. Libertarian= Right-libertarian, not anarcho-communist.

Trilby63;11768195']Libertarian.. Do you mean left or right wing?
Does it really matter? Are either of them any more likely to be effectively implemented than the other?
And I chose Cat and Moderate in the poll.
Cat, Anarcho-Communist.
Voted "Liberal," but held my nose.
Cat, libertarian is a decent definition.

Well, dogs are more capable of working in group settings and understand when instructed to do simple tasks. So a cat would probably be better implemented in public office.

Cat people (sans TIGER and LION afficionados) are Democrats.
Dog people (sans "little tiny pusso-pups") are Republicans.
I have a Tiger who loves her Arctic Wolf "brother".
What's my party?

the only thing this poll shows is that there are a lot of liberals on this board :P
(i voted liberal as socialist wasn't an option and i'm not authoritarian)
GO CATS!
the only thing this poll shows is that there are a lot of liberals on this board :P
And a lot of cat fans.
Moderate, Dogs
I hate cats with a mad passion...

I refuse to vote liberal, given its meaning in the UK :p

Cat, socialist.
I think authoritarians can't stand an animal that won't come when you call it. Hitler and Napoleon both were cat haters.

Honestly, I don't think the father of King Harold has anything to do with it.

Is libertarian meant to be a catch all for all libertarians, or just meant for right-libertarians?
Is libertarian meant to be a catch all for all libertarians, or just meant for right-libertarians?
Right-libertarian. Like me!
Edit: Well, not that I'm saying that every right-libertarian is like me- I would qualify anarcho-capitalists as right-libertarian. But you know what I'm saying.

Godwin's Law does not dispute whether, in a particular instance, a reference or comparison to Hitler or the Nazis might be apt. It is precisely because such a reference or comparison may sometimes be appropriate, Godwin argues in his book, Cyber Rights: Defending Free Speech in the Digital Age, that hyperbolic overuse of the Hitler/Nazi comparison should be avoided, as it robs the valid comparisons of their impact.
I deny any hyperbole.

I find it a bit funny that liberals appear to be overwhelmingly cat people. I recall my cats being more prone to beating the crap out of each other for trespassing on their territory than subsidizing each other with free veterinary care and kibble. :D

So the statement
"dog lovers=hitler" is not hyperbole?
I dont love dogs because of their obedience, I love them because they are friendly and offer unconditional love.

You're an anarcho-communist, right? Choose liberal, it means leftist.

so do the results of this poll indicate that dog-people are poltically apathetic or internet people are cat-people or that conservatives don't like animals or that this poll has some statistical flaw in it?

That would indeed be hyperbole, if anyone had said it. The post you responded to made the (rather silly) suggestion that people like Hitler would not be likely to appreciate cats. There's a rather large difference between "if you are Hitler, then you don't like cats" and "if you like dogs, then you are Hitler." :)

Hitler's dog wore a veil. Hitler's dog is dead. Therefore we must monitor all Muslim women.

There, dog lovers are authoritarians
reference to hitler hating cats.

I said Authoritarians (hitler, Napoleon) hate cats. Dog lovers don't necessarily hate cats.
Only two conservatives? Wow. Didn't really expect any left-authoritarians.
And I see that libertarians are fairly divided between dogs and cats. Those libs love their cats, though.
