What a celebration they have in mind is unclear. When the celebration will take place is also uncertain. But Republicans in Washington are so certain of the US making progress in Iraq and Afghanistan that they have set aside $20m (£11m) for a "commemoration of success".

The funding was tucked away in the small print attached to a congressional military spending bill for the past year. Also inserted was a provision for the money to roll over into 2007 if it was not used in the current period.

The news from Iraq suggests the party will not be taking place soon. Yesterday, it was reported that 28 people had been killed in a series of bombs and attacks. Among the dead were two US soldiers - bringing to 17 the number of American troops killed since Saturday.

A better use for the money would be for the families of the soldiers who bravely gave their lives. No matter what you think about the war you can't agree with this can you?

That's it, all fucking Congressmen who knew about this are fired. No discussion.

When a FOX reporter asked an activist about her opposition to the rediculously expensive inaugural party for Bush's second term the activist said that that money would be much better spent on armor for the troops, because they don't have enough as it is. The FOX reporter then asked "he took time for a prayer service for the troops. Doesn't that honor them?"

Spending money wisely is not the conservatives' strong suit.

And when Bush was asked "do you have an exit strategy?" he said, "no, we have a success strategy."

You don't think he meant "a strategy to bring about success," do you? He meant "in case we accidentally succeed, we've got a plan on how to deal with it."

I hope the activist replied, "honour them? maybe. Protect them, definitely not. Which would you prefer?"
