That new south park......my god....it caused me too laugh uncontrolably, and my left kidney too implode....
But it brings up a good question. How much "online gaming" is healthy? Personally, I play for about 1.5-2 hours a day. How but you?

I don't play online much. One computer is too crap to play good games, the other doesn't have a good enough connection. I play Metroid Prime Hunters sometimes, but I always come up against cheaters and people who use cheap tactics to win.
When you start doing stuff like this is when you've had enough. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_addiction#notable_cases)

I have never found any MMO to be anything but repetitive and boring. As for other games, these days I mostly just play single player RPGs and some turn based strategy games. I like those games for the same reason I like reading sci-fi and fantasy; it’s something I can do by myself to temporally take my mind off of my life and the problems in the real world. I have no desire to deal with other people during that time.
As for how long one should spend playing an MMO, I think more than two hours, except on rare occasions, is far beyond any expectable limit.

Since I was involved with NWC and 3DO, I have to plead the 5th on that question. *shifty eyes*

Imagine my suprise when I turned on the TV expecting to see 2D cartoons tonight and instead was a WOW dwarf with a big hammer.

The only MMO I could and can ever really get into is The Matrix Online. Trust me it's ALOT better than it was when it was released. I mainly like it because of the storyline.

I dont play many games on my computer because I have a cruddy three-year old ibook. In fact I dont play many video games, I'm more of a role player...
You couldn't have put an "other" option?
Honestly, I think it depends on the person completely. People like my brother can play for 6-7 hours at a time, while keeping up with full school schedule, having a girlfriend, doing lots of choir and EC stuff, maintaining his weight(actually really, really skinny), and still goes on forums.
The same would not be good for my two best friends. Weight problems, not going to school, working full time(8 hours of work, hopefully 8 hours of sleep... 7 hours of WoW, and they would be mindless zombies).
However, I don't think there is any limit. The limit is enjoying what you are doing. You can't enjoy what you're doing if you cant pay for it, but if you are so worried about money, keeping healthy, what have you, whats the point if you cant enjoy it? Im just saying, imo, life is a means to happiness, but you have to reach the end, not just strive for it.

Are we all going to be patting ourselves on the back about how we're not addicted to gaming, etc?
Let's face it, humans are born to be addicted. The level of addiction varies from person to person, as does the form, but every one of us is addicted to something.
Some of us become addicted to stamp collecting, or to bird watching...some of us become addicted to computer games. Any addiction is unhealthy when it is carried to the extreme. The objective is to modify these addictions with other activities we enjoy, so that it never becomes something which can harm us, physically or mentally.
Other than that, all I can say is enjoy your addictions...that's what they're there for.
"None! Read a goddamn book! Or go play in the sun!"
Discussing things on NS, of course, is not equivalent to online gaming.

I think NS itself is online gaming.
NS and II for the Roleplayers
and NSG for the Debating games.
I used to play for a while, but only between periods of having a shite connection, and I got bored of it pretty quickly.
People can play however long they want, as long as it doesn't interfere with more important things. As far as I care they can make a professional career out of it.

I agree with you, and would add that in my experiance most MMO players are foul-mouthed with the maturity level of a 13 year old boy. Just sad.

Does anyone else wonder if this was really just a 30 minute advertisement for WoW and Blizzard? This reminds me of Aqua Teen Hunger Force Boost Cell Phone espisode which was basically just an advertisement for Boost cell phones.

Yall really should play MxO. We only get the immature players every once in awhile. They're usually delt with. In MxO when you want to join in a free for all battle you type in /pvp. Usually we're able to convience a foul mouth newb to do that and then we just pwn him, rez him, and pwn him again. :D
I picked 3-4 hours a day, which seems to me a pretty normal amount of leisure time. I don't play online games much, though. I gave WoW a try and didn't like it.
As long as it takes to pwn all the noobs on the server.......
So about 15 mins ;)
