Thats... Really deep. I'm serious. Thing made me cry. There needs to be more people like that out there. I'd do it myself, but I'm an ugly fuck, so not too many people would want to hug me. I especially like the part at the end where the girl hugged the police officer, even after they told them to stop. Unconditional love man, it makes the world go 'round.

Some times I want to give hugs to complete strangers, just because its obvious they are having a rough time. But I refrain from doing so because trust is a key factor and most people don't trust people they don't know.

I give my friends hugs all the time though.

Hugs are great ^_^

It's even worse when they ask, "How are you?", only it's not as if they really care about how you are doing because you answer, ask them how they are doing and they just keep walking. Since when did "hello" get replaced with "how are you"?

How are you? Has several meanings. It can be a serious question, it can be just a standard greeting, or it can be meaningless words droning out of the mouth of one of those retail zombies who work at the mall "How are you today, can I help you find something?" translates to "Hungry... want brains" Well if not brains, at least one more sale for that commission check at the end of the month.

Kind of like the way "have a nice day" can mean "have a nice day" or "I'm done with you now", or even "Go fuck yourself".

It must be. It tends to give me a complex.

Technically, I don't think it should even be counted as social interaction as it would imply that there's actually some form of communication involved.

So, basically we could all walk around saying "Fuck you today!" and it would be the same thing as "Hi, how are you"? Cool, I'm going to go try that out!

Depends on how you use it. I've worked retail before and after dealing with a lousy customer and doing everything in my power to be insulting and unhelpfull without being outright rude I'd often end our little transaction with a cheery "Have a nice day!" (Go fuck yourself).

I need some free hugs; my day sucked completely. Here's a summary of what happened:
-I found out that some guy I hardly know hates me, because I'm a pacifist. Apparently, me saying that humans don't have the right to choose who is worthy of life and me electing not to attend the Rememberance Day assembly last year makes me a pinko-loving communist whore. I don't get it.
-This guy I was beginning to really respect and like (despite being two years younger than me) disappointed me by not showing up to the extra musical theatre rehersal the director put me (okay, one other girl, too, but she didn't show up...) in charge of. It wasn't an optional rehersal, and he was already pissing me off by being beligerent and flirting with random girls when I was supposed to be leading the group in a singing rehersal. I know I should confront him about his lack of respect, but some idiotic fibre in me hates losing friends, and therefore won't confront him.

Sorry, I just had to rant. Anyone willing to pick a fight with me for being three thousand degrees off topic?

You know what we ought to do? Since we're all strewn about the world, why not form free hug groups in the places we live and start dispensing hugs on the street? We do this all over the world, and not only do we cheer a whole lot of people up, NationStates itself might even get PRESS COVERAGE!

I need a few free hugs tonight... my husband's working night shift, and it gets really lonely without him.

I wave to people too, and I get a lot of odd looks if it's just me... but if my (very cute) little girl waves, most people wave back.

And I used to just tell the truth when people asked the social "How are you?" Amazing the reactions I got. Most people looked at me funny just because I didn't say "I'm fine, how are you?"

I liked the fillum. Especially when it went from black and white no hugsville to color from love and hugs. I was actually buying into it and getting the warm fuzzies until they started showing the desperately staged hugs. The flying drop hugs and mosh pit specials and what have you. Then the fuzzies faded red flags went up and it seemed more an intentional play on my emotions and I disconnected. That's prolly more a reflection of me being a cynical old grump than it is a reflection on the film makers.

I know some people can feel uncomfortable having hugs, but people weren't being hassled, and were only hugged if they approached the "free hugs" people for a hug.
