So, there has been 3 school shootings in one week, including 2 attempted ones. The one including sexual assault. Now, combine this with all the other things that have been going down in this country the past week and I'd say we're now on the road to totall collapse. In only one week. This is discusting.

What's even more disgusting is the fact that many people who post on internet forums seem to lack the ability to use the English language properly.

Three hundred million people, and the fact that three of them go on shooting rampages means the whole nation is collapsing? You might want to check your math.

I agree with you that the fact that three shooting rampages in one week does not qualify as convincing evidence that the nation is collapsing. What bothers me more is that we have become so used to the headlines and think little of it. It has become almost normal to read that a school was the scene of murder and mayhem. That, to me, is more worrisome than the fact that we had three in one week.

This underscores the necessity of a shooting class, kids will be required to take guns to school and learn how to shoot them. Maybe instead of gym.

based on current antigun law, schools are gun free zones

thus, any crazy with a gun knows that there are easy pickings in the "gun free zone" as no one there could ever defend themselves - see it works almost every time

It's most assuredly the copy-cat effect. Hell, the asshole who killed three kids at the Amish school did the exact same thing Morrison did at Platte Canyon: burst into the room, force the teacher and all the boys out, and line up the girls against the chalkboard, then kept hostages. Only thing this guy did differently was shoot a great number of hostages. 'Course, I am certain that had Wegener not sent the SWAT team into Platte Canyon, Morrison would have killed Emily Keyes AND the other hostage as well.

dont see many shootings at courtrooms/police staions/army barracks/nra meetings or gun ranges for that matter.

now all these places have people armed with guns, some civilian, some authority

florida's crime has dropped drastically, anywhere for that matter with shall issue laws have seen the crime drop.

take a peek at places where guns are banned stats...washington d.c(record crime and murder rate)nyc,chicago....aint rocket science.

in a perfect world,i would still not agree to being disarmed...i dont like to rely on others,(it would obviously cut down on crime with guns...duh)but i will say that given the amount of weapons in the u.s(legally and illegally owned)it is foolish to think that any law will help that disarms people(especially law abiding citizens),cause it obviously does not work..re...washington d.c.

gun bans will not work in the u.s. period...look at d.c/nyc/chicago...and gun free school zones now.
i think if a teacher was armed at columbine, just like in the cafeteria shooting in texas years ago, people would still have died...but maybe not near as many if someone was armed and stopped the criiminals.

my 2 cents, but i dont trust others to protect me period.

I dare say i'd have to agree with an earlier comment.

That this is happening all too often, and that something must most certainly be done to at least stem the flow of gunshot victims.

But who exactly is to blame? The Parents? The teachers? Certainly not the students themselves. No we always need to blame someone higher up the chain and guess where that falls?

That's right, back to us.

3 shootings in the last week, eh?

Cue the music!
It's the end of the world as we know it...
:p

Don't compare these to Columbine. Don't bring up Columbine. You don't know what it's like to be abused by your peers (and to have that abuse be condoned by authorities) to the point where you actually want to kill.

The parents are not to blame. "good wombs hath born bad sons"

Teachers? Sometimes. Throught action or inaction.

Students?...Yes. Both those that drive the hatred and those that hate and act on that.

Canada has surprisingly lax gun laws.

Because, you know, murders never happen in other countries which have tight gun laws. Right? Right??

Oddly enough, people will find a way to kill other people (if that's their inclination) with nothing more than a large stick if necessary. The gun argument is just a pathetic attempt to place the blame somewhere other than where it really belongs.

Schools used to have shooter safety/hunter safety classes. Strangely enough, school shootings seem to have begun after these were no longer considered "pc" enough to be continued.

Well, any rational person would understand the fact, that if you were to establish strict gun laws, the hard working, honest people would abide by them but do you really beleive that the criminals would abide by them.

Gun Laws do not protect the people but is a great incentive for these criminals. If the criminals realize that the people are allowed to defend themselves without the worries of being prosecuted themselves, it will deter them from that person.

I'll use Florida as a prime example.....We, here in the state of Florida, have the right to protect ourselves and our property if we are in fear of life and property.......crime is already starting to drop.

As for some states strict gun laws, strict gun laws does not protect the people but it makes it a whole lot harder to protect yourselves from the criminals and that is completely wrong.
