Since this forum is associated with a geopolitical simulation game, I assume that most of ya'll have at least a passing interest in strategy. Well, have I got a goody for you...
Introversion Software has just released a slick new game called DEFCON. The demo (which is basically the full game, but with restricted to two players only) is available for free on their website (http://www.everybody-dies.com/downloads/index.html).
Anyway, it's a great game. You start out with a 1980's "War Games"-style map of the world, lit up in dark blues. The first thing you do is establish your radar stations, airfields, missile silos, and naval fleets.

As you're doing this, the game timer slowly counts down, from DEFCON 5 (complete peace) to DEFCON 1 (nuclear war). As successive levels of DEFCON are reached, more and more military options are opened up, from naval combat to dogfights to ICBMs.
Once everything is set up, you can speed up time to reach the DEFCON 1. At this point you can either focus on defense, shooting enemy missiles out of the sky and protecting your cities, or go on the offensive and smelt your rivals into glass. At the end of the game, the winner is the one who has suffered the least civilian casualties. You can play the game against the AI, or over a multiplayer network.
I just played some last night, and it's pretty fun. You guys should give it a whirl.
(And NO, I haven't been payed or otherwise persuaded to advertise for this game. I just think it's really slick and cool.)
