Saturday morning tv is officially dead

Locally, the WB and the UPN combined into "my network tv." Fox and the WB were the last two channels with Saturday morning cartoons and as we all know, Fox hasn't had anything worth watching for years, and now they can't come up with anything new so they are reairing their lamest shows. With the death of the WB for mynetworktv, the only thing they are airing is all the crappy educational shows that they aired after all the good Saturday morning cartoons.

Saturday morning, you will be missed.

Do you know the truth about Sponge Bob? He was a female contraceptive once....he was flushed down. But Nickelodeon doesn't want you to know that.

They should start showing the X-Men show they had on some years back.

Not the new one where they are in high school. That one is lame.

Oh, trust me, the Saturday morning cartoons have been dead for a long, long time, often times twisted beyond recognition.

Ninja Turtles, Looney Tunes, Transformers, Mighty Max, all could entertain a kid for hours upon hours of mindless drooling.

No longer.

Fucking cable.

No. Spongebob is trying to seduce our children into lives of homosexuality (http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evils%20in%20America/Sodomy/spongebob_and_homosexuality.htm).

Tom & Jerry is sometimes hidden in Cartoon Netwokr, the rest were killed for newer cartoons that follow all the new guidelines for cartooning - no smoking, no excessive crossdressing, no drinking, etc.

I hate when anyone declares something "dead" that its gone and completly unsaveable. The cartoons arn't aimed at us, how do we know how much kids enjoy them? I know my nephew would much rather watch Dexter's lab then tom & jerry.

Rocket Robin Hood: What happened?
Maid Marion: He was hurting you so I stopped him.
Rocket Robin Hood: You stopped him? But how?
Maid Marion: I gear stripped him or whatever.
Rocket Robin Hood: You stripped his gears... You stripped his gears? But how?
Maid Marion: I just used my compact, my lipstick, and my mirror. Now my make-up is a mess and I can't make myself look pretty for you because you won me in a contest and...
Rocket Robin Hood: Maid Marion, you're wonderful.
Maid Marion: I am?
Rocket Robin Hood: Yes, you are. Never underestimate the power of a woman with make-up.

sigh.. had some really good ones back then... Banana Spits , Electro Woman, Shazam, Isis, Loony Toons, Fat Albert, Superfriends...

even the late 70's and early 80's had some good ones. like Mighty Orbots, silverhawks, etc...

now they all suck...

Especially when you actually go back and watch the trappings of your youth and realize just how stupid you were back then.
I remember watching that D&D cartoon when i was a kid and thinking to be the most awesome thing ever. I saw an episode of it a couple months ago and it made me squirt blood out of my eyes from the sheer, compacted awfulness.

I remember waaay back in the day, I'd wake up early Saturday morning (like 5:30) to watch Thundercats, then Silverhawks, then Voltron. I didn't really care for Silverhawks, but it was on in between two shows I really did like. By the time Voltron was over my sisters would be up and wanting to watch My Little Pony or Strawberry Shortcake or some crud like that. And since sisters are waaay more annoying then brothers when they whine ;) my parents let them watch their stupid shows to shut them up. :D

I got stuck watching Ed, Edd, and Eddie when I was waiting at the doctor's office once. That is one of the worst cartoons I've ever seen. Anyone who watched that kind of stuff when I was a kid would have gotten made fun of until the end of time. Compare that to He-Man or, hell, even Top Cat or Magilla Gorilla.

I think if Saturday morning cartoons aren't dead, someone should put them out of their misery. [Grabs a .30-06]

:-) Maybe the generations will cycle themselves around. Generation Z or whatever this is now might grow up saying "What the heck were we thinking" and they'll make better cartoons that I can see with my own grandkids of Generation [something after Z].
